Our W is built on the 2016 chassis... a nice feature is that you can check the oil & DEF levels on the dash... the DEF is easy, but the oil level takes a couple of steps... check your manual. After about 10000 miles we needed to add a quart. Be sure to use the right stuff... again, check the manual. It is not something readily available.

Our panel has a button for checking oil; just above the "0" for resetting the trip distance. I stumbled accross the DEF level display but haven't been able to repeat the steps I took. My manual is mute on this.

Seems like all you need to do is press the button on the left side of the instrument cluster a couple of times to get to the def level... I can confirm this on Saturday when we start our trip South from Wisconsin.

We have 2015 MB Sprinter with 2016 Sunseeker house. The Sprinter started barking at us at 5500 miles until we had a checkup and the oil changed a couple days ago. What is this 20,000 mile oil change people speak of?

Follow the instructions in your owners manual , keep pushing the buttons on the dash as directed and your MB will show what is causing the alarm.

I believe (but am not certain) that the oil change interval is 20,000 miles OR 2 years ... whichever comes first. Or maybe it's three years. Anyway, both mileage and time are considered.

Our started the countdown at the 2 year mark and we only had 6k on it. So it's as Dave said it's mileage based or every two years. Oil change at a Mercedes dealership was $164.

Also required at 20k miles is a fuel filter change, which will cost at least $250.

Mercedes didn't mention the fuel filter at the time of the oil change. Maybe due to the low mileage. We will do that at 20k. Wow not cheap...

Wait! Isn't the oil change required every 20k or ONE year while under warranty?

We purchased our unit used. It had 4900k on it. I don't understand one year under warranty or 20k . Needless to say ours was past the FR one year warranty. Upon start up a negative 1 then 2 and so on appeared with a wrench so after we read our Sprinter book we found out the negative number indicated an oil change. This was confirmed by a Mercedes dealership. I never heard about one in the first year although I know it had been serviced prior to our purchase. Its a 2016 and had been repo'd prior to our purchase. it was used but barely.

When your unit was serviced the maintence reminder may have not been reset. The manual states not to reset until reminder normal scheduled maintence interval. This may be way the countdown days displayed. This is from my 2013 manual. Yours may differ. The "Engine oil change intervals " is from actual maintence/repair manual. I did miss state the 2 year interval in an earlier post.

Replaced the fuel filter today following MB maintence procedures. Actually pretty easy as long as you have tool for the hose clips (I do). Replaced the compensator ring even though it was in good shape. Total time approx. 45 minutes. I could see it going much faster the next time.

Well, that makes sense that our "change the oil sign" came on. The MB dealer says ours is a 2016 model although FR says it's 2015. It was surely built in 2015. Thanks, I was confused.
The service was $260, with a $98 "loyal customer" discount. Our only other interaction was there was no coolant and the air-conditioner didn't work. I should do the rolling on the floor laughing emoticon right now.
