How to add DEF

It seems pretty simple with this kind of spill-proof container - but the price seems ridiculous. Then again, $100 to have it done by a dealer? No way. Thoughts?

Adding DEF

The easiest way to add DEF is to go to a truck stop. We have a filling station that you can just add DEF like you would when you add fuel. That is the cheapest way. Truck stops have to have DEF pumps because a lot of the semi's need it as well. Hope this helps!!

I get the 2 1/2 gallon jugs from Pepboys, Walmart, etc. They come with a hose cap that fits the fill opening nicely. My 2012 Solera uses about one gallon every 1700 to 2000 miles. I add based on mileage and try to avoid having the warning light come on. On our MH the warning light comes on at about 4300 miles from full DEF. Won't quite take 2 1/2 gallons at that point.

I get 2.5 gal jugs with spout from Walmart, under $20 bucks. My truck hold 5 gallons but the gauge show almost full with 2.5 gallons.

If you use the truck stops for DEF you may want to buy an adapter as some of them have a magnetic switch. The adapter is $14 Home - FiveStarDEF.com

Good point. Does that filler have a full sensor, or do you have to watch the filler neck? I assume there is a sensor to avoid many messes at the pump.

The pump has the auto shut off the sensor does not interfere with that

If you spill any just rinse the area off with water-DEF is corrosive.
