Larger LP tank on 2017 W model?

I was told by my salesman that the new units will have a larger 16.8gal tank. Can any of the Reps confirm this?

Thanks,
Derrick

Josh was able to confirm that the new 2017 MBS models have a 16.8gal LP tank vs the 12.8 in previous years. Just wanted to put it out there in case anyone else is interested.

Our tanks were always 9.8 gallons, not 12.8. The MBS and MBS only will be coming with a 16.8 gallon propane tank.

Any thoughts on retrofitting the larger tank to existing MBS units?

Thanks...

I don't expect FR to do this gratis, but it would be nice to have schematics and part numbers so we could procure parts and retrofit our MBS MH on our own.

Any chance?

The additional size will add another 30 pounds of propane plus the additional weight of the new tank. With only 1109 pounds of carrying capacity including cargo and passengers, this could be interesting.

You are absolutely correct. We have only 925 pounds of payload allowable on our Forester MBS. I am only asking for the information such that we can install the option should we choose to do so. We have the diesel genset so it's less critical for us, but many others might like more run time for their LP genset.

And removing the rear door on 24R and trading out the shower door might equalize that weight and well worth it.

Tanks were 12.25 WC (Water Capacity or actual tank size), but you can only fill to 80%, so 9.8 LP capacity. Which is confusing because some mfg's list tank size (WC) and not LP capacity and leave the WC part in fine print.

So is the new 16 gallon tank, tank size or LP capacity?

What seems to be the issue? Almost everyone on this thread has a Dometic fridge...should be able to get tons of helpful hints.

You trying to run on electric or LP? Is the breaker tripped? Is the LP full?

No I did not. Joshua has been AWOL...I even texted him a while back and he did not respond.

I raised him better than that.

16.8 gallons Water Capacity or LP Capacity?

16.8 gallong LP capacity would be a 21 gallon WC
16.8 gallon WC would be 13.44 LP Capacity.

With regard to the Dometic fridge problem, ours would only work with LP regardless of the AC source until we tripped and reset the GFI near the sink. I learn something worthwhile with each new malfunction…..
