MBS "W" Floor Plan Low Point Drain Location

After unsuccessfully searching for the low point drains on our "W" I finally gave up and went to my local dealership. The tech who had PDI'ed our unit came out and fished around for awhile and then pulled them out of the fresh water drain access hatch located in the rear of the MH. For those who are familiar with typical low point drain set ups these are a bit "different".

• These are not hard pipes, they are flex tubes, and they aren't color coded blue and red, they are both pale white.
• There are no valves to open and close. They use a screw on cap similar to the cap on the antifreeze siphon hose on the water pump. Just loosen the cap and the water will drain.
• They don't hold much water. I had already done all the other winterization steps prior to heading for the dealer. When the caps were loosened only about two or three cups of water came out, of both hoses combined, before we hit the "pink stuff" we had pumped in to the system.

Now that I know where the drains are I think I can winterize, or de-winterize, our "W" in around fifteen minutes...

All of the drain tubes under the lite are white with screw on caps just like your unit.

Not sure the advantage to the colour coding because they ALL need to be drained.

I fully agree... But some units are color coded and I didn't want anyone to waste their time looking for non-existent red and blue drains!

I agree with you 100% the very suggestion that all units are the same would indicate some type of "coding" which we all know is a direct contradiction of RV manufacturing practices.

Redldr1 I went to Home Depot and got two sprinkler plastic ball valves for about three bucks for my 24 s works great should not get a shower. Trying to undo a screw on cap

I had the same confusion on the W until I shined a flashlight up the hatch and saw the white hoses connect to a red and blue hoses.

In our 2401R, the red and blue drains are underneath, below the kitchen sink. But I'm gonna shine a light around in that rear water compartment to be sure there isn't another set. Building them out white is just confusing and pointless!

PS: ours were well covered in spray insulation foam so were really "brown" - and hard to find too.

Read this post and went out to check out my W in the pole barn. In the fresh water access port I only found a valve to empty the fresh water tank. If they are that well hidden I wonder if it is necessary to drain them. One year I pumped the lines on my previous 5th wheel with the pink stuff but forgot the low point drains and nothing broke. I hope so since it is now down to highs in the 30's.

Did you check underneath to the rear of the retractable step?

Did not find the hoses by the steps. I was following Redldr1's tip to look in the freshwater tank access at the rear of the W but couldn't locate them there.

Look again, right up underneath just aft of the step. There is a slot there with tubes in it. They may be covered with spray foam insulation. Eyeball a line straight down from the red and blue lines under your kitchen sink. You may have to lie in your back with a flashlight in hand (and wheels well chocked!) to find them.

The tech who "found" mine had to reach in the access port and feel around for them. They weren't an easy "here they are" to access. The drains are loose flex hoses that could easily slide out of sight. When I re-winterize next month I'm going to put "pull strings" on mine to make finding them easier...

That is where I started looking... They are not located their on the "W" floor plan...at least on mine. I even cut off some of the spray on insulation looking for them. After that I gave up and went to my dealer...

Ok, it's just odd they would do it differently on the two models and that they would hide them so we'll. Glad you found them!

I found my low drains today on my W right where Redldr1 said-In the fresh water tank access in the rear of the coach. They were easy to pull out. One had 1/2 cup of antifreeze and the other was frozen(it's 25 degrees out). Supposed to get in the 30's later this week. I am thinking no damage since I pumped anti freeze through the system earlier. I will let you know in January when we go south.
While in many rvs they are located below the sink the W has the LP tank mounted there.

That's right, I forgot they switch sides on some of those larger items! Either for space or balance or both.
