Rant
I am getting mad ......my new motor home was picked up by a delivery driver last Wednesday , dealership (FL) was hoping to get by Friday latest today, Saturday: No show ...and nobody can get hold of the driver and knows why it is taking him that long. Sunday the dealership is closed, so the earliest delivery will be Monday, so God will. I have the feeling somebody is using my motor home for a short vacation!
I hate FR's policy that you cannot pick it up yourself at the factory so you really get a new vehicle and are not committed to somebody you do not know.. Like Bclemens wrote in another post:
...on the way from the factory, being driven like a 4 year old playing Mario Kart.
Just kidding

lol...I should never put anything in writing.
On a side note...just because it was picked up by a delivery driver does not mean it is in transit. What happens (especially at month end, when lots of stuff is shipping out), the unit gets picked up and is staged in their holding yard. So when a dealer/manufacturer says, "shipped" it means it was picked up.
Fo instance...if they assign a driver who may be getting back from another trip...he may get delayed on the return so it doesn't go leave when expected, but may have a driver assigned.

The only way to do what you want is to buy it at a dealer in Elkhart if that's where it is made.
It will make the trip ok.
Welcome and good luck.
By the way what did you buy?

first welcome to the FR family. I understand your frustration. weather can cause driver delays.... I suspect you would not want your MH driven in unsafe conditions. Also, you will quickly learn patience is a must with any kind (read brand or type) of RV as they will all have problems down the line. Being this frustrated this early does not bode well for what is likely to come at your pdi. Take a deep breath, it will all be ok.

Brian, thank you for trying to calm me down! As a side note: the unit was promised to be here last week of July, that was part of the deal - the regional sales rep was involved. The first excuse was a power outage at the paint booth which delayed 1 day.....according to the dealership, but the coach will be here end of last week so they promised. I cannot believe that nobody can trace or know where my unit is now!! Don't they have cell phones?
asquared, I am not new to Rving and for sure not to Forest River, check my signature. I know all about the quality and quirks - but I am still a loyal customer to FR, they are not worse maybe even better then any other company. You are right - the workmanship is amazing, I guess the standard tools are a stable gun and a chainsaw But we don't get any better here....
But that still leaves that "delivery driver":I would like to drive my unit from the beginning, break it in myself, use the throne only by myself and be sure the right diesel fuel is used, brakes (especially new ones) are carefully broken in and many more reasons. To get a new coach with 1300miles is in my book a used unit!
Yeah, they have only experienced drivers. Look at the hiring criteria on companies like Horizon and what they get paid!
Its not about money. FR could have a delivery line at the factory and charge for it (they could create new jobs!!! ) - absolutely ok with me. And when something is wrong during the PDI they would have all the resources right there - that would be the best quality control!
A loyal and frustated customer

I doubt they use the Throne. Likely a rule against using the appliances on a new trailer/ MOHO. They might take nap on the couch and have their German Shepard along as company but that would be it.

I would just be happy if these drivers didn't use screwdrivers to get the coach door open because the paint is still tacky. It ripped up my door seal and now the dealer will have to replace the rubber seal at FR's time and expense.

I ordered a 2401W Forester to replace my 2013 Solera24R..
Was very happy with the Solera...nothing wrong but the standard quirks which were solved with great customer support thru FR and our Reps here on the forum Had it for 3 1/2 years and close to 30000 miles and sold it 2 months ago...
But she saw a 2401W in a campground....and that was it...

Well, my Forester finally showed up Monday late evening.
I will not comment any more on those subcontractor drivers other than FR should seriously consider a factory pickup option. Would save a lot of customers a headache and makes them happy campers!
Only had a quick chance of looking at the unit, it was getting late and before I had a chance the dealership had of course to do the delivery inspection.
Overall impression is good, the windshield is broken and will be fixed, dealer immediately got on the phone! Pdi planned for Thursday morning.
Noticed some changes already: windows in cabover are square now ( I like), the slide out racks seem to be different and metal valve extenders securly fastened to the rims.
More - if interest exist - after the PDI

Congratulations! You'll love the floorplan as much as we do.
Regarding PDI, I'm sure you will be very thorough so I only have one suggestion - have the dealer fill up blank and grey tanks and check for any leak. Then open the valves and make sure they are smooth and operatable. My valves failed multiple times.
I'm curious to know what metal extenders FR used and how they are fastened to rim.

Maybe Josh or someone at FR can let us know what they used for these valve extenders. I really hate airing up those plastic one's.

We went to a braided metal valve extender.

and Joshua, what is beneath that shiny valve extender? still a rubber valve standard from Mercedes? And the main question is can those extenders take the weight / load of TPS sensors?
Thanks Hans

Pictures
I know most everybody order / get their motor home with the full body paint option - I wanted it without and think it looks great with that skirt paint! I try to include pictures which are rarely seen...
The other things I have done is replace the glass shower door with the bowed curtain option - looks fantastic and I omitted the dinette skylight. Always had it covered anyhow with a 2 inch piece of Styrofoam in my solera, had the feeling it lets in a lot of heat or cold and is dirty most of the time. And afraid of leaks / hail damage, its so flimsy..
Btw marker lights and taillights look different too...
MB Emblem on hood is missing...

Nice, I too decided to go without the full paint option. Pick up my 2401w in September. I didn't know the shower curtain was an option ... or will you be doing that yourself?
