Slide out 2400W will only work when generator running

Hi, we have a Sunseeker 2400W and the slide will only work with the generator running. Have tried with shore power, the engine running and nothing. Start the generator and allis well if a little sluggish.
Any ideas

Just a guess, but perhaps the automatic transfer switch? Does everything else work as it should on shore power and battery, or do have power only on generator?

Correct

You are right - all else seems to work fine on shore power and battery.

OK. That would seem to rule out the transfer switch. Breaker or fuse? I am going to drop out at this point because I don't think am helping.

I would assume there is some sort of lockout to prevent any slide operation with the engine on.

You cannot open the slides while the engine is running. It is a safety issue.

Slide Operation

Thanks for input everyone.
I now know that engine cannot be running.
Owners Manual states that need to have either the generator running or be plugged into 120V outlet. I have tried the second and still problem. The meter shows fully charged battery.
I guess that I will have to run the generator.

I have a 2401R MBS and both of my slides work on battery when boondocking. But the slide on the 2401W is heavier and may require more power.

Very odd. My slideouts work fine on battery power alone. Have you located the slide control module(s)? They're near the water tank (!) on my 24R. Anyway, you might check them to see if they're flashing any codes...

Not sure if you've got Schwintek slideouts. If so, here's a link to their troubleshooting manual...

On my "W", the slide will work on 120v with the battery disconnect "off". It works well with 12v volt as well. I have never had to start the genny to bring the slide in while dry camping. Maybe check your battery disconnect. Unplug and see if your 12v lights work. I know on post 3 you said all works well on battery, but some get confused thinking 12v things are working when still plugged in.

" I have never had to start the genny to bring the slide in while dry camping."

The reason the recommendation for shore power or gen set is to keep the DC voltage at the slide motor as high as possible.

Low voltage can cause overheating , and motor burnout.

My batteries are always "up" when I run the slide. I like to hear the motors as they labor to move the slide. I hardly ever camp with hook ups and my solar keeps batteries full. If they were not full, I would run the genny for a time before sliding. YMMV
