Tint on driver / passenger doors

After several failed attempts to schedule a drop off appointment to get the drivers and passenger door tinted, I decided to do it myself. I ordered precut tint online and installed it. It took about 2 hours to install and because the windows are fairly flat, no heat shrinking was required.

Looks good. Any idea the % of light transmission?

Laws vary by state. In MN, tinting is limited to 50%. Apparently the % of L/T is supposed to be clearly labeled on the tinting material too.

It is 35% which is legal in our state - Kentucky. Many people put 20% on front doors anyway.

The 4' tall windshield lets in a ton of light, I don't think you would even be able to tell it was tinted at 50%.

We aren't allowed anything on the windshield, but then this is the northland. The windshield is indeed huge. Driving west into the afternoon sun will be like lying on the beach.

We had a friend from NY stop in town with very dark tint on his TV. I mentioned that I couldn't believe how dark they were. He said that the cops didn't care in NY so there wouldn't be a problem. Less than 15 min down the road he got pulled over for going a little to fast. The cop didn't write him for speeding but did for the tint. His choices are to pay a surprisingly large fine or return within 30 days to verify the tint is removed. Even if he pays the fine he has to provide proof the tint was corrected or it will remain in the database for any future time he may be pulled over.

My friend said he wishes he would have got the speeding ticket.

Mine are not "pull over dark." The first pic was when I shut the shop garage door that cut the light to the windshield which makes them appear darker.

Here is a pic with the door shop garage door open.

No pets - however high quality tint is extremely durable and can withstand bumps, brushes with keys in hands and accidental seat belt latch impact.

All my cars have been tinted and they have withstood ever thing I have put them through.

The positives far out weigh any negatives.
- less heat
- less glare
- less of a fish bowl feeling / seems like everyone who passes wants to look in
- better appearance IMO from the exterior as it ties the cab and shell together.
