Will My TV Safely Tow Vengeance Rogue???

I'm a new member and a former FR product owner (RPOD). I am looking at a 2018 Vengeance, Rogue 311A13-73 and also a 2018 Vengeance Rogue 295A18. Both are 5ers. My TV is a 2017 2500HD Silverado, 6.6L Duramax LTZ, Z71 Double Cab, Long Bed with a B&W 5th Wheel Hitch Companion.
I need some advice from owners of the same size TV on whether the 2500HD is enough of a truck to pull either of these two 5ers. The two trailers are basically the same except the 295A18 is 5' less in length, has a smaller awning and no slide out. Bottom line I guess is the weight is approximately 1,133 pounds less in UVW than the 311A13-73 model.
I also belong to a forum (diesel place) and when I posed the scenario of my truck pulling the heavier trailer and the feedback that I received was that the truck/trailer combo would be borderline on the wrong side of being overloaded. The overall consensus of the feedback was that; sure the truck could pull it even if I stayed within all the weight limits on the truck and the trailer, but should I? They're main concern was, could I safely stop that tow package when I needed to, worst case. I don't personally like to push the limits when the safety of other folks are figured into the equation.
The folks at the RV place disagree with the feedback from the forum. Here's the rub on those opinions: the RV dealership wants to sell me a trailer and the forum folks don't have a dog in the hunt, sort of speak. When I ran the 2nd trailer by them and asked for feedback I had one tell me that I ought to search out owners with same vehicle and trailer to get real world feedback.
I'm retired and am planning on traveling the country with my wife. So, we'll be putting in a lot of miles in all types of terrain over the year and don't want to put a strain on the TV.
BTW, my toy is a 2017 Ultra Classic. I much rather be touring on the bike, but with the wife's health I have to go this route cause she can't do the distances. I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

The answer is pretty simple to find actually.

Just look up the weight ratings of your truck, and compare them to the loaded weight of your trailer. If the truck is rated equal or higher than the trailer you should be good to go. If the truck is rated less than the weights of the trailer you are not good to go.

There are variables that affect the weight rating of tow vehicles within the same make, model, and year so you have to compare the truck you actually own, not a generic, assumed rating.

I basically have the same truck except short bed version. My Vengeance gross listed weight is lighter than the two you are looking at. I took mine to the scale, without the Harley in the back, and my pin weight was 200 pounds over. I haven't weighed again with the Harley in it but the Harley will offset some of that weight depending on what else we load in it. Driving and riding the truck handles perfectly well. I never have any issues stopping. The built in brake controller does a very good job.
Having said all that if I could change things I certainly would. I would get a 3500 long bed but at my current point in life a dually just was not an option for me. When we finally get to retire and travel more like we want a bigger truck is one of the first thins we will look at.
Just a side note on the Vengeance. I highly recommend a long bed because of the nose cap.

Thanks for the reply. Which Vengeance do you have? What did your trailer weigh when you took it to the scale?

I have a 2016 320A SS

I don't have my weight sheet with me. I thought I had a picture of it but didn't locate it. I'll try to post it tonight.

So I did a quick look and curb weight on 2017 2500 5741- 6689 curb weight on 3500 5985- 6901 looked up brake pads at orielly both trucks take same pads . If you read up on trailer brakes they should be stopping the trailer not the truck brakes given the fact that a 3500 weighs 200 more doesn’t make it safer when stopping follow Doug’s advice find the info on your truck and like the salesman said take logical advice from those who have similar set ups. I am a truck enthusiast not an expert worked oriellys part time few years back I can’t recall very many if any parts that were different because one was 3/4 or 1 ton that said didn’t sell hardly any suspension or axle bearings

Electra Glide, thanks for the reply and the information that you provided. The tough part of this decision is that I don't have the trailer to weigh at this point and it's all hypothetical calculations on the load out that I'm making at this point. However, I've concluded that for me and the best piece of mind is to move into a 3500 DRW. I spent yesterday shopping around to see what this is going to cost me and have 3 offers to consider today. Bottom line is that I'll lose a few grand on the trade up but I got them down to $0 down and my payment won't be any more than $90 of what I'm paying now. I'm losing the 0% financing and going to 3.69% for 84 months. Once again thanks for taking the time to help with your input and that also goes for all the others who replied.
BTW, as a side note concerning hauling your bike. I plan on getting a hitch that B&W Hitches has for securing my bike during transport. Look into it, there are no straps involved. Have you weighed again with your bike loaded? Did the pin weight go down?Cheers

I haven't weighed again yet with the bike in. I plan on weighing again once campgrounds open again here in Iowa.

Previous weights from CAT scales.
Steer axle 4820
Drive axle 6460
Gross 21,240

The stickers that list the weight for my truck is missing. I contacted GMC through chat and they didn't quite seem to understand what I was looking for.
