We did not retire but sold everything but the FW and moved to Naples, Florida. Wife was able to transfer her job and I got a new job at an RV Resort near by. We live in our FW at an RV Resort and are very happy. They are saying on the weather channel that a cold front is coming and it might get down to 65 at night and only 75 to 80 in the afternoon. Why wait for retirement?
You are right Life is a Highway...

Going to retire next spring and I want to travel some, staying local for the summer but looking for input as to where to go in late fall heading south for the winter. What's the best time to head south and return to home. Never been south of Washington DC and was looking at moving 500 miles then stopping and looking around for 2 weeks then moving on like this till we got to Florida. Once the weather starts to warm again heading about the same west before turning north again.

umbilical cord will stretch until it snaps. Going to sell the house out from under one, figure he will look like this when he figures it out , or if he figures it out, Purchaser he comes with house.

I suggest TN due to low cost of living and no state income tax. AL is nice, but taxes are too high

Not far enough south for me.....I live in Ky and I know winters are too cold for me unless in the deep south/southwest. Get a mail service in Tx ot Fl, claim it as your residence and get the tax break.

Logan Landing Campground and Rv Resort in Alpine Al. It's on Logan Martin lake. There is boat access to the lake during the summer. When the water is dropped 5' in the winter they have a marina a few miles down the road. Lots of owners in the park including both cabins and campers. Most all have golf carts. A few live year round and most commute from Birmingham which is one hour away. Amenities include pool, beach, clubhouse, hiking/biking trails, golf carts, private pond, boat ramp, a few minutes from Talladega raceway, and lots of social gatherings. Great spot and I would recommend to any RV/camper.
