Unless you have a way to store it inside a heated garage or something, you're better off leaving it until the weather warms up enough and it melts off naturally. You'd more than likely damage the roof trying to get it off.

Glad to here you've turned the corner. We still have some sub zero nights in the two week forecast here in upstate NY.

I wouldn't do anything "mechanical" to remove the ice. As stated you are more likely to damage the roof than not. If you have ice dams and start getting leaks I would try salt when the temperature is above 20. Below 10 it does almost nothing. Work from the edges of the roof toward the center. You don't want to create pools of standing water on the roof.

Glad to hear you're surviving reasonably well.

Here in Central Ontario I'm on the same latitude as you are, by mid-Feb we consider winter to be on the down-slide now, temps on average are moving back up and snow is typically pretty light.

Hmm, Mr Winter needs to tell Mr Snow that winter is winding down; in the last 3 days we've had over 40cm of snow in the Huntsville/Algonquin Park area.... enough is enough!

As to your ice, I'd not sweat it at that thickness, it will be starting to melt soon enough.

Hang in there, you're on the way to spring now!

Did you say you were doing this in Minnesota?
(Sorry, that's right side up on my laptop and can't fix it here.)
This picture is after previously pulling snow off the room 2x. This was the 3rd time. (There's more snow on there than it looks, probably 6" this time.) Other RVs in the lot have over a foot of heavily compacted snow on their roofs - easily over a ton of snow. I wish them luck, I really do.

Any measureable snow this sat in eastern Nebraska will make it 6 weekends in row for snow storms. Right now it's forecast for .5 to 1.0" of rain.
