We also use online banking through USAA the other upside to USAA and perhaps others is free (reimbursed) ATM fees. We are reimbursed our ATM fees up to a certain amount. ($12 I think per month)

We have our housesitter take a picture of the front and back of the check and send the pictures to us in a text message. I bring up the pictures on my wife's phone. I open the bank mobile app on my phone and take pictures of the pictures on her phone. It works.

I bank with 3 credit unions. One of them has the mobile app where I can take a photo of the front and back of a check and send it off for deposit. The other 2 credit unions have yet to catch up with this option. I mail checks for deposit regularly to my other 2 credit unions, and have for more than 10 years. If I need to make a withdrawal, I find an ATM in the area wherever I might be that does not charge ATM fees. All of my credit unions offer the ability to find a fee-free ATM by simply going to their app or website, choosing the option to find a fee-free ATM and putting in the zip code of wherever I am. I've had no trouble with bank by app, mail or web.

I didn't want to highjack the receiving mail service forums, but I have a sililar question. Currently my mail is forwarded to my mother's address as I am migrating south and I do have direct deposit for my primary income. Recently I received a refund check from my water utility company and also a VA Medical Travel reimbursement via a private contractor.

My question to those who still receive checks, how do you deposit/cash them while on the road?
Why not just call your bank, and ask them?!
