Except for last year, we took a few days off to allow for a long weekend. The wife will begin to work 4 days a week by June 1 and we will enjoy long weekends even more this year, if I am cleared to walk on both feet. Seasonal camping has been wonderful especially allowing us to purchase a heavier camper since we don't tow. This year we hope to purchase a small fridge to place in our 12x12 screen tent on our wood deck just outside the camper. Can't open our awning, but the tent is a great add on we purchased two years ago on sale. We have the added benefit of having the wife's sister and husband as our neighbors at the campground. And the campground is only for seasonal campers so we don't have the 'weekend crowd'.

Enjoy the joys of seasonal camping and this site!

The campground we will be in is also seasonal only and mostly an older crowd so the owner told us when we looked at it

Our campground has mostly older people, like us, but there are a few young families with children so it is a nice mix. It is a very quiet campground and the owners are very nice and helpful. We have been pleased to be here. And it looks like the campground may be 90% filled this year, and I am happy for the owners.

So when does the season officially begin for everyone? They're looking to turn the water back on at our campground on April 10. We'll be out there the following weekend for cleanup.

Our campground, Winding Creek of Hancock WI, opens April 14 and closes October 15. We won't get the camper until April 21 as April 16 is Easter. At least I get the clear from the surgeon to go to the camper.

It is March and we are getting close to the best time of year -- Camping!

Our official opening weekend is April 14, but we can stop in anytime the weather is nice to clean up our site... Just won't have any utilities. Our campground (260 total sites) is only about 25% seasonal... And on weekends from Memorial Day through October, all the transient sites are filled to capacity. We've always enjoyed the peace and quiet through the week, but also the liveliness of the crowds on the weekends. With our kids still being young, it works great for us. We also like meeting people from all the different places of the country... Everyone has a story, and we like to hear them. One big thing for us is that our campground is clean... Like Disney World clean. Makes a big difference when settling down to a seasonal site.

Ours is officially open from April 15 to Oct 15, that's when the water is on. However we can go up any time to winter camp and a few people do. I'll go up about April 12th and get the power hooked up and slides out.

I remember saying that same thing. They you get there and see all the cool things other people have done and you want to replicate it.

It seems like we are constantly adding/building things at our site.

We agree. We walk and look at different sites, then ask what people like. We did purchase a storage table with storage bags. Will order a mini fridge without freezer to put in our screen tent. Looking forward to this year.

That is certainly true. We have a fairly large site by a outhouse for weekenders. 3 seasons ago we pulled up the pond and waterfall and rebuild. Two seasons ago we pulled up 540 sq ft of pavers to level out the high and low spots. This year we have to reseal the 96 sq ft deck and steps. Then I think it will start all over again. Our lot is sandy and right against a hill going down into a large low spot and there seems to be a lot of settling going on.

Ok... so another question. What do you all do under your tires? Do you park on wood, or whatever else? We have a gravel pad, and i was thinking just leaving it parked on it as-is.
I was also planning on covering our tires with the white vinyl tire covers. Anyone else?

I was told whether parked on ground or pad to park the camper on wood. and yes, we do cover our tires year round.

I parked it on Treated 2" x 12"s and white vinyl covers on wheels. Will do the same with the new one.

Seasonal camping thread

We park on gravel with 2x10 under the wheels on a shaded lot and all tires are shaded/covered by the slides or deck so no other covers

We were seasonal for 10 years when the kids were growing up. I drove back and forth to work all summer and the wife and kids got to play all day. We had a lake lot with boat and dock and a golf cart. The CG had a golf course so we all golfed also. What a life back then. Then we said lets buy a small TT and travel some more. Well that just led to a bigger TT and selling our seasonal setup. Now after another 10 years of traveling we are looking for another seasonal CG to park at. Just don't know what state we will want to be in yet. We are thinking going full time for a few years but have seasonal home base site in Michigan and then another one somewhere else for winter.
