One more question - what is the best way to connect the PVC pipe to the actual tank drains? I see some people just duct tape it, but it doesn't look nice, and I may want to disconnect occasionally for a road trip still.

I used fernco coupling. Allowed a little fudge factor as the drain did not line 100% also when the frost heaves the fitting would fall off rather than break the valve body off.

We don't have leagues in our campground but have been known to throw the bags till 4:00 am many a night. Set up our work lights and play in the road on one of the dead ends by the beach.

Well to say the least I am sad our campground called and they never got the water testing results back yet and can't open this weekend. The first time this has ever happened. Not happy at all but it is what it is. Hope fully the opening will not be delayed too long.

Ours here inOhio opens the seasonal section May first but the overnight area is open year round,so we are paying to camp in the overnight section for the weekend en on Sunday move our camper up t the seasonal areas once it didn't sit on the site this past winter since we got it after the gates closed last season.

I have two questions.
1st. I have a seasonal site with no improvements. Looking to build a small deck for a low cost. Any ideas on building one.
2nd. What does everyone consider a reasonable distance to travel to their seasonal site.

# 1 keep it simple

#2 ours is 1 hr 15 min door to door...just right

If the deck is larger than 4x8 I would build in 4x8 sections so if you move your site or leave it will be easier to move.

Our campground is about 1.5 hours from our house. We go most weekends and much more of a drive than that and we feel that Friday evening would be wasted.

X2 on building in 4'x8' sections. You can transport the sections in your truck and carriage bolt them together. We also drive 1hr 15 min to our site.

Went to the site and got everything opened up, cleaned, mowed, ect... without incident. The mice didn't chew wires or water lines so that was great. No damage or leaks from the winter storage.

Thanks for the input. I drive 3 hours to my seasonal site. It seems a bit far so I may look for something closer. 4X8 deck sections sounds like the way to go. I will probably bolt 2 sections together.

1. do it in sections, like suggested..watched a seasonal neighbor move his trailer and decks to another site,(they got tired of cutting grass..lol) and it was so simple for him to move the sections and re-set them up!
2. 1 hr and 15 minutes to our site!

Our CG opened up this past weekend. wasn't able to get out there to open her up. But we got the cover off in March. they open the CG up for seasonals 3 or 4 times a year, during the off season. (we check for critters)
Husband still works, i am retired. so it's me and the dog that stay there as much as possible. I love seasonal camping, my rock garden, and just putzing around my site!

IMO, drive times for “Seasonal Sites” has variables. Many on this thread have seasonals that are open only part of the year.For those campers, a shorter commute likely encourages more frequent usage. Others, may opt for year-rounds usage.For us, a 7 hour trip, is worth it to be on the beach, any time we can get away for 5 or more days. We affectionately refer to it as the “safe house".

Glad to know we are not the only ones to drive what seems a ridiculous distance. We drive over 5 hours to get to our camper on lake Superior. We do it because there is nothing else like it in the area. The scenery is spectacular and the summer weather very pleasant. It is as close to being ocean front as you will find in the Midwest.
I like the fact you call it your "safe house" We feel the same about our get-way. Our camper is the place where all troubles are somewhere else!

Our CG is about 30-40 minutes away depending on which route we take. It's far enough away to get out of town but still close enough so that if we have to go back for any reason (usually our kid's sports activities) that we can.

I agree with building the deck in 4'x8' sections. I'd also double-check any building code restrictions. Some CGs limit the size/style deck you are allowed to have.

We drive 2 hours. That is our limit. We also just built a deck. We did as others suggested and built in sections. Our deck is huge but it also done in sections.

For those of you that have a separate grey tank for the galley - do you leave it open all the time? We have a 300 gallon holding tank that we dump into. Also, awning out or in when you leave?

Slides out all season, awning out only when I am there. No awning hold down poles for me, too many straps to trip over. Only takes 10 seconds with a push of a button to extend or retract.

Same process here ....never heard of someone being told not to leave slides out

Dealers have them out all year in rain or snow and usually far from level !!
