Floor Scratching From Slides
Has anyone experienced scratching on the floors due to slides being opened and closed? I've used my slides less than a dozen times so far and I can see scratches (beyond a normal rub mark) in several areas where all 3 slides move. I've been told by a couple of RV Park "experts" that the height of the slides can be adjusted, however I am leery of tackling it 1) due to lack of experience, and 2) knocking thing out of square. I was also told that due to having the upgraded Shaw flooring put in instead of the stock vinyl, the height may not have been compensated at the factory. I'd like to know if anyone has similar experience, and to know how hard it would be to adjust, as I have friends at the resort who are a lot handier than I. Thanks,
Rusty

Being a 2019, should be under warranty. Call the Dealer bought from and have him adjust it and have the dealer fix the floor.

^^^What Brother Les says.^^^
Scuff marks are not uncommon and happen when the slide rocks a bit while going in or out, we have one scratch on the floor near the door and I'm almost certain it was caused at one time by a grain of sand.
We had the kitchen slide fixed and even though I'm very handy with tools (so I think ), this can be a complex job that I would rather have someone do who's already done it once or twice.

Scratches are pretty common, especially with laminate flooring. As mentioned, sand and dirt have a tendency to scratch. My DW is adamant about sweeping those surfaces before moving a slide.
Gouging is not common unless you caught a rock or dropped something not knowing and it got wedged in there.
If you are concerned about the slides not being adjusted correctly and you have no experience in adjusting them, please find a qualified tech.
Things can go south in a hurry when mis-adjusting a slide.

We had the same issue with floor getting scratched. LIppert gave us a pair of slide slickers at Frog Rally and they work great. Have to hold them in place until slide rails get on them and you might have to cut off the nubs on back used to hold in place on carpet. I just did a search and Walmart has them for $55.00 and Amazon has them for $48.00. I have had my super slide adjusted 3 times and it still rubs floor if it rocks when going in.

Some dealers don’t have the skill nor inclination to work on flooring but then contacting the maker would be in order while it’s still under warranty. I’m with the others in getting an experienced tech to adjust the slide.

Our fifth wheel is a 2004 model. We replaced the carpet with vinal peel and stick tile. I didn't want to tackle adjusting the slide. So avoid scratching I cut 4, 1ft squares of the old carpet. We place them upside down and let the slide catch them as it comes in. Works for us.

Get yourself two or four pieces of scrap carpet (maybe 6x6 or 12x6), put these down (make sure the soft side is down) where the slide hits the floor, that way the slides don't damage the floor, I had my slides adjusted multiple times by the dealer service and they made it worse, at one point the slide was moving back and forth as I was driving down the road and /or crooked in the hole. I finally got tired of it and did it myself, no more problems, I also used the 3M leather/vinyl kit from wal-mart to fix may linoleum and leather products, the problem with slides is they can come out of alignment real easy, some people never have a problem with them and others have nothing but problems with them.

Thanks for the input. I put it on my punch list for when we return to Elkhart in April and have Riverstone make any adjustments. I'll look up slide slickers for future reference. Thanks again.

They gave us 6 slide slickers or whatever they are called and a diagram on where to lay them in place, plus the wife vacuums the floor before the slides are brought in, our floor is a tile floor.

We got a piece of counter top laminate and cut it to size. The wife holds it in place when I bring the slide in. Been working great for 2 years now.
