Trailer Hitch Upgrade

Coming back from Florida, with an aluminum bike rack on the trailer hitch with only one bike and a few aluminum chairs (weighed out at 90lbs. before leaving as hitch is only rated for 150 lbs), my wife noticed (she follows in our Jeep) that the rack was flopping up and down significantly. When I stopped I could see a lot of flexing in the crossbar where the hitch is mounted. It would just be a matter of time to the welds gave way. Off to the welding shop yesterday. 1/4" bar stock welded to bottom of original crossbar, gussets, and end caps welded on. Quick coat of undercoating and done. Feels a lot more rigid. Road test to follow.
