1st trip accomplished

We went to Sandbanks Provincial Park Lake Ontario, which is the closest to the ocean we have around here, beautiful place, great beaches and clear water (thanks to some pesky zebra mussels).
When we first arrived to the our campsite, we looked at it in dread ,we had one spot to setup the trailer at, trees all around it, our first mission was to back the sucker up between 6 tall trees. TV is a Dodge ram megacab so huge long with trailer behind, and we had to do this with spectators, hubby got all snappy again but i find this funny. After some manuvering it was backed in place but then the awning was not able to fully extend, whatever leveled it and we are parked.

Went to the beach and relaxed watching the kids play in the sand, biked, did some fishing and exploring.

Second nite into trip we noticed sound coming from back of fridge outside (a ticking noise) removed panel and looked to see for anything, no sparking, checked fuse panel, turned the fridge on and off, noise still came back and found that the bathroom GFI was tripped, reset it and still the noise was there, stopped a while later, went to bed, woke up and fou nd the fridge had crapped out. Looked in the daytime and saw that the circuit board panel was off and saw two fuses we had one of the same 3 amp so switched it to new tried the fridge, still nothing, went to town and got the second fuse the 5 amp, tried that still no fridge called dealer and he said the ticking noise we heard was the pilot trying to light when the GFI tripped, b/c it tried to lite so many times it finally kicked the bucket. He suggested plugging it directly with extension to park electric, did that still not working. Gave up and bought ice.
When we picked it up I asked if the Dometic recall was done (when i went to the website and entered the sin # it is affected, they never did give me proof, they said they assumed it had been done, i am going to have them look at it and hopefully this is covered under the recall.

One important thing we did forget to bring was gloves for the dump station, again i laughed at hubby trying desperately not to get dirty, i did help too and handed over hoses, gotta laugh or i might have puked. Two pairs of gloves would be very handy. We had rented the movie RV (robin williams) which is hilarious, if you haven't seen it get it, you rvers will appreciate it.

All in all it was a super trip, great weather, and a wonderful way to end out summer holidays.

Glad it was a nice trip. Sorry about the fridge.

The ticking you heard was the ignitor firing. These things try to light several times then go into lockout until you turn them off and back on then they try again.

Did you have the propane turned on at the fridge?
Will the stove burners light?

The board might have crapped out but it's unlikely. If you thurn the fridge off for a minute then turn it back on it should try and ignite again for a few seconds.

The recall won't cover this problem but the warranty should.

Yup. Glad you had a nice trip inspite of the fridge.

Like Bama stated, no gas to the fridge and it won't light. I have to "purge" my gas lines before every trip. Since the stove top is close to the fridge I light it to get the air out of the lines so the fridge will light.

The GFI may be tripping because of a bad connection at any one of the electrical outlets in that series. RV outlets are pretty chincy so y'all may want to check them all out to make sure the connections are good.

As far as gloves for dumping.... Some folks use 'em some don't. If I have some I use 'em but I usually don't worry about it. I just wash up real good before jumping back in the truck. I've never had the Robin Williams moment.

Weird the stove works no problem so not sure why the gas didn't work for fridge, but the electric isn't working either, pain in the butt, the service manager at the dealer drives by my place everyday so I will ask him to stop in and have a look.
The trailer isn't brand new at 2003 so dont' think it would be covered under warranty, so i am XXX my fingers it won't be crazy expensive.

Another trip booked to Bon Echo Provincial Park end of Sept so hopefully we will have refer working by then!

Glad your trip went well and you have a way to have refrig repaired. we had a problem on our hybrid last year that needed a tstat replaced in the frig. sometimes bees/spiders build nests in burner tube. hope you get it fixed they work well when theyare working, add a small blower in the bottom helps circulation, let it cool off for about 24 hours afte it is fixed before you use it

enjoy
