i think you're right to be concerned.
i'll bet that a 30' 5th wheel's pin weight, will be way over your 1/2 ton's payload capacity.

Water alone will add almost 350#, dry weight is 6050# which is a fictional number that means nothing more than a starting point that they use to calculate the GVWR (GVWR-CCC=Dry weight.
Cargo Carry Capicity includes all options to the trailer, including microwave, air conditioning, propane, batteries, WD and Sway contorl hitches, spare tire, etc.
Your vehicle's GCVW includes your fuel, passengers, dogs, luggage etc.
Added up, you can easily be way over your weight limits.

The tow capacity "between 8000 and 8500 lbs" just doesn't do it....that sounds like guess work. Depending on year, final drive ratio, and cab/bed configuration, that 5.4 L engine can be anywhere from 8000 to 11,200 lbs for an F150. The OPer needs to get on this site and do the homework: https://www.fleet.ford.com/showroom/...ng/default.asp
Even if the truck can tow the weight, I seriously doubt it can handle the pin weight without exceeding the GVWR and the Rear Axle Weight Rating.

that's tow capacity, i asked about payload capacity. big difference.
payload capacity will relate to the pin weight. that's where a 1/2 truck will fail in being able to tow a 30' 5th wheel.
