When i first bought my salem cruise lite 261bhxl, i had a 1/2 ton silverado, 5.3 w/ 3.73 gears. Truck pulled ok. Was always a struggle to.get to speed, but that was no big deal. Deal breaker for me was the truck never felt stable with the load... Swayed, wind and semis would blow me all over the road even with my equilizer hitch, though going to all Load E tires helped slightly. I upgraded TV last fall to a cummins ram 2500. Night and day. Feel totally safe and stable in the new truck.

I have a 2008 30qbss and was pulling it with a 2012 gmc 1/2 ton. It was ok but knew it was too much trailer for the truck. Just found a 2000 excursion with the 7.3 and couldn't be happier about how it pulled it.

Took the 30QBSS out for its (200 mile round trip) maiden voyage with the family this past weekend... With all the mods that I did to my truck, I was satisfied with it's pulling power and it's stability. I did keep it under 60mph on the highways... Running the Blue Ox system, Timbren on the suspension, Cold Air intake, PCM reprogrammed for towing (CTS), Flowmaster exhaust, LT tires ... I will be getting a bigger tow vehicle eventually.... For now, slow steady and safe, I was in control and it felt good.

Awesome to hear all went well for you Doug! Sounds like you have a better setup than most!
I am a one of those guys that tend to push the limits, but I typically do a fair amount of research before doing things to make sure things are safe. It appears you have done your homework and pieced your equipment together nicely for your needs! There is really no need to go faster than 60MPH, it's all a mind set really. When I am on vacation, driving slower actually helps me relax anyways.
Glad to hear all is well, shoot some photos our way when you have a chance! We love pictures!

Here's a pic - TT is loaded with our normal equipment plus 3/4 fresh water. No doubt, she is heavy.
A New Tow Vehicle will happen in the future... but, for this year we make do with what we have ...

Very nice!
Do I see a light bar mounted on a headache rack on the back of the truck?!

That seems to be a fair amount of rear squat. Put some airbags in and you should be fine.

Looks good Doug. Thanks for the update. I added some Hellwig Helper springs a couple of weeks ago. My crew cab takes a beating with all the tongue weight. Hopefully with my hitch adjustment i did last fall and the springs I should be good. Hopefully my TT will be back from the dealer soon.

Adjusting the WDH should be the 1st line of attack.
