Angry 2014 DBUD & Already Have Problems

With the weather cooperating we finally got a chance to get in our newly purchased 2014 DBUD to clean it. Here is what we found, both fresh water lines coming from the city connection and water tank had kinks in them (poor installation) which would have allowed no water to flow at all, tried to straighten them but they just kink again. The awning had a small tear in it near the front where it mounts on the roof rail. Found water in the back cargo area which was enough to soak a small towel, hopefully one of the pex lines in the cargo area isn't bad. Last but not least speakers on one side of the ceiling were not working which upon examination one wire was not connected on one speaker. We did do a walk through and never noticed the tear and everything else of course is hidden behind the walls. Everything is covered under warranty of course and we did go with the FR extended for $150. I know FR pushes a lot of these out of the building everyday but where is quality control on final inspection?

Although annoying, your troubles sound easily repaired by your dealer. I have certainly heard of far worse problems. I wish you luck in your warranty repairs and let's hope everything is repaired quickly.

As stated, your issues are minor and are easily fixed, although it can be frustrating after paying so much hard earned money. Most of the units coming off the assembly line don't go through a complete PDI at the factory. They generally pull every 6-10 one off the line for a complete PDI, other than that, they may only do a systems test and/or leave it to the dealer to do a complete PDI and rely on them to have the unit ready for the owner.

Sorry to hear of your problems. I am still dealing with repairs at the dealer since last October and hope to have everything done soon. After 4 rv purchases i have no choice but to accept as the industry norm, do the best pdi I can and develop a good working relationship with your dealer. Even the best pdi won't catch everything. Not sure if you have filled with water and ran pump yet, but ALL of my water connections were loose and needed tightening. I bought it March and was still winterized or "air pressure checked" from the manufacturer. Good luck with your repairs and happy camping.

Haven't run water yet but I did check water connections and some were finger tight which I snugged another quarter turn. We had leak (window) issues with our Jayco which were of course resolved, but now we're thinking "here we go again" but we do know the issues will be resolved because it is a very good dealership. I assume the awning is leaking somewhere in the middle where the 2 trim pieces come together??

It is still at the dealer from last October. They have already siliconed a couple of times. The biggest issue is where the two pieces come together the ends are bend. I hope they replace the whole trim strip, but not counting on it.

New replacement awning has been ordered and everything else will be taken care of when the awning is replaced. As far as the gutter leaking as stated from another poster, I took care of the split gutter seam with black automotive silicone, can't even hardly tell where the gutter joins together. Next project is to Eterna-Bond the front roof seam and other places.

That is exactly where mine leaked. I repaired ours with black neoprene roofing caulk along the entire length of the awning where it slides in the channel. Water tested the other day and "viola" good to go, no leak.( For right now at least ).

Good idea. I will have to see what the dealer does. I am sure they are just going to silicone between the two pieces again.

Thats exactly what C/W said they did to mine. They did a horrible job and they didn't even water test it before they turned the trailer back over to me. Like the old saying goes " If you want something done right; Do it yourself".!!

Yep... But the black neoprene caulk is found at Lowes or H.D in the roofing aisle for about $6. Good luck to you my friend.
