2016 Salem 31qbts

Hi everyone,
We just got a ‘16 Salem 31qbts about 2 months ago. We’ve been out 4 times already with another 3/4 trips planned for the rest of the summer. We love the camper but my one grip is that where the black/gray tank empties is way underneath the camper. I practically have to get on my hands and knees, plus a shoulder to to hook up. I’ve looked through the forum and haven’t been able to find anything about modifications for this. Attached are some pictures of it. For whatever reason the last two pictures are upside down.

That my friend looks like evidence of a castle rock tire blowout and the remaining pipe was cut and cable gates added again.

Honestly it sucks under there but is a blessing in disguise if another blowout or road debris is kicked up.

Or it was a seasonal camper and they wanted it very close over the septic and shortened the pipe'. I don’t see any other damage from a blowout though it could have been professionally repaired hahah lol! Sorry had to say it. You can easily add some piping and move the valves back out again. Just make sure you empty the tanks before cutting the pipe and I’d run a few million gallons of freshwater through them along with bleach!

About the only thing to do is to re-plumb the outlets to get them closer to the sidewall.

You could get a waste 45º elbow and an extension and move the terminal end out so it'd be easier to hook up, and then get some electric valve operators so they'd be easy to operate and that way you wouldn't have to redo the plumbing.

Camco makes a clear 45º fitting. You could also get a waste extension or two. They commonly make 10" and 8" so you may need more than one.
