Very similar yes. I don't remember the radio antenna being powered. It's in the scrap yard now. It might have been.

I also didn't know there were radio/TV antennas out there. Mine were separate.

Yeah a couple I looked at on ebay are powered. They only cheap...not sure what to do.

I had a factory radio antenna on the roof... albeit a crummy one. I just posted how I connected my radio to the TV antenna. It sounds like you might have a completely different set up but if you have a simple wire dipole like some models, doing something similar to what I did would likely make a HUGE difference.
