So after messing with it and measuring it out. It looks like it is centered . After getting Ipr there and looking at it, it doesn't look like it is designed to go any further in than this. Looks like that big plastic piece at the top is designed to sit up against the rail on the camper but there is no recess in the back of the plastic piece so that it would go over top of the rail and sit flush. Is this what everyone else's looks like when it is in all the way? There is about 2 inches of awning material that is not on the roll.

To be honest, I have never seen one where the awning material slopes down from the tube to the attachment rail on the camper wall.
Ours slopes down from the camper wall to the tube, and thus sheds water when closed. It looks like yours would collect water there, and that seems odd.
It's as if they mounted the awning too high, or the rail too low.
Not sure why that would be. Does anyone else have a similar setup?

Mine doesn't sit that high. This is a real shot in the dark... the two lower arms may have a sliding screw knob that needs to be loose when retracting. See if maybe one or both of those are not loose. You can see those on mine if you partially extend the awning out. Yours may be different.

In those pictures we can see that the awning arms are closed for sure so that's as "closed" as it's going to get. It looks like the roller is offset from the arms inside those black plastic pieces. Whether its supposed to be or not I certainly don't know. I would be concerned about wind grabbing that exposed fabric, but I guess the motor is supposed to keep it closed regardless.

Unless someone on here has an awning with the big plastic pieces on the end (unusual), I think you should just ask the dealer to verify that that's how it's supposed to look (and get that documented) and enjoy your new camper!

Looks to me like it was installed incorrectly. I would be heading to the dealer or send the pictures to the awning mfg.

I have what looks to be the same awning. Asked the question of is it closed a dealership. They said yes, that this brand of awning it was normal. LCI or Lippert brand. I am still working on the not wanting to roll up by itself problem. Let us know what you find out.
