awning not closing all the way?

Hello All,

2015 Salem Cruise Lite 195BH.

I rolled up my awning the other day, and it doesn't look like it is closing (rolling up) all the way... its stopping short 1-2" away from the edge of the roof, but I'm not sure if I just don't have the right mental picture of how far is far enough. Maybe that is how far it always went. Hmmmm.

So anyway, I checked for things hitting or stuck in the arm mechanism, used some WD-40 on friction surfaces, and had a buddy roll it up while I pushed it to the side in case the wind (there wasn't that much wind recently really) had torqued it one way or the other.

Anyone else had this problem?

I have the 2014 of your model. Mine has always looked like it should go another inch but it doesn't.
Can send a photo later if you want to compare.

Good point, a picture is worth a thousand words. Mine is below, does yours close more or about the same amount?

Whether it is manual or electric, the material HAS to be centered on the roller, otherwise you will get the arms slightly out of alignment causing the not closing problem. Once you get it centered and it closes correctly, pop rivet the material to the tube thru the hem.

Your picture even shows the material is not centered on the tube.

I just adjusted mine. Mine is not automatic and apparently I was retracting the awning while holding the control line too far off-center. This will cause the awning to roll up unevenly. I recentered the control line and opened and closed the awning a few times and it evened out so that everything went back where it should.

Had that problem before, for me, it was not on the tube but directly on the side of the trailer that it was not centered.
Pulled it back in place and I added a second metal screw at both end to secure it in place.
Problem free since that time.
Yours definitely needs to roll in more before hitting the road.
