East TN campgrounds

Looking for some suggestions on campgrounds, and site numbers, in the east TN area. Preferably within an hour of Knoxville.
We don't want an RV park, we prefer trees and actually feeling like we are in the woods. We have a 21' TT.

Hmmm...within an hour of Knoxville...I'd consider Panther Creek, it's a state park near Morristown. Recently had some refurbishing done and some sites are backed up to the woods. Several hiking trails and very close to Cherokee Lake. We've been there several times and have no complaints except there are raccoons that will steal your bag of peanuts.

Thanks for the info I'll look into that one. Any chance you have recommendations on site numbers?

Funny, last time I stayed at Cumberland Mountain we had squirrels steal a bag of peanuts. And the raccoons routinely opened the trash cans at night not matter what I weighted the lid down with.

Wife and I stayed at Big Ridge SP in May this year. By no means an RV park. Not sure I would recommend it, really nothing wrong with it just different than we have ever seen a CG. There is no check in area, just drive in, find your site and setup. Reservations required. Sites are paved, kind of close but does have full hook ups. About 40 minutes outside of Knox.

Oh yea and the road to and from the park to the "main road" is interesting to say the least. Tight switch backs but you should be fine we made it with our 33ft 5'er and found bigger units in the park. Good luck!

Check out Cove Lake State Park a little north of Knoxville. Some of the sites in the back are really spacious, I think they are in the mid 80's for site numbers.

Here is a pic of some of the sites, I think these are a little closer to the bathhouse area, and the horseshoe pits.

@Golfnbike13 40, 42 and 43 are my favorites.

@Justice12t Nice!

@Helmsey That looks great too!

I've got to try the other 2. My misses is a state employee so we get a discount and to be honest TN has some great parks.
