Not to be short with you, but this subject has been covered several times on here. If you do a search on here, for "tongue jack", you will see all kinds of post, opinions, prices, etc. If you using a load equalizing hitch, you will need more jack that the tongue weight of the trailer.

Good luck with the search.

I'm currently looking into an electric jack for my 09' 30QBSS and will be going with a Barker 3500 unit. Nothing but positive reviews on it. I just need to figure out if I need a 2" or 2 1/4" not sure what size the hole in the frame is. We will both more than likely need the same size as I dont think FR changed the frames. I plan to remove mine tomorrow to measure diameter and will report back.

Maybe someone thought I gave a bad response, and I suppose I may have. The intent was to teach the new "newbe" , (your name for them), that they may get results faster and quicker, if they would take a few minutes to do a search first. After being around a few years, the same 20 post come up every winter on winterizing. Also, how do I bypass the water heater? Just trying to educate the "newbes" that we have a search function, and their question, especially when generic, may have been answered. My apologies to anyone I may have offended.

A simple search on here yielded this:

Reminding people that there is a search function is a bad thing?

He's a moderator and he's just doing his job and, frankly, does it well.

To the OP - I also replaced the factory LCI with a Barker 3500VIP. More power and quieter.

My thoughts exactly. People should not get offended when it is suggested they use the tools that were given to them to use by the people who own the site. As Windrider stated the OP would have found many opinions on this subject right away by using the search. And yes as Moderators it is our job to inform users on the features available to them. WIndrider does a great job of this on many occassions. As to the subject, I would love to own a Barker but they are abt $400.00 anywhere up here and to buy one stateside, well they all seem to tack 90 + bux on for shipping so the price always ends up the same. I bought an RV-Pro 3500 for $200.00 and it looks like it could have been made by Barker is a decent clone. I will keep my old manual jack in the bins in the back of the truck just in case though.

Reminding folks to use the search area is a good idea. Faster access to info that has been discussed here repeatedly. To inform someone of the provided tools available......that's a good thing.

I have whatever brand FR put on there in 2010.......it's white and kinda loud !
..........and the led light has dimmed way down !

Just measured the hole in the frame after removing the manual jack temporarily. It's 2 1/4" this is my 2009 Forest River Salem 30QBSS. I'm gonna order my Barker unit armed with this info.

I'll watch this as I am thinking of changing mine to electric and will probably be the same as yours.

By the way, where is the search feature on the iPhone mobile app? Not trying to start crap... Otherwise I just would have asked where to dump my gray tank.

To quote Sam Worthington and Jonah Hill in the "Call of Duty" commercials-- "go get 'em, Newb!"

That was awesome, JeffK gets to stay.

I did my research a couple of years ago and the two names that kept popping up were Barker and Atwood. After finding out Barker makes the units used on Airstreams and seeing my buddies Airstream jack be trouble free since the late 80s, I went with the Barker VIP 3500 18". They make a 24" also, but the Windjammer has a lower mounted hitch head, and it was a bit cheaper.

Where is the 18" measured between so I will know what mine needs?
