We light our oven every time we use it as well. Doesn't make sense to waste the propane otherwise.

So far the number of times we've used the oven in our new trailer since we bought it last September is 0.

I agree with not lighting it if you dont use it, I thought he was saying he didnt have a pilot light at all and had to light the oven manually.

Furnace

Just a thought. We used the furnace on our first cold weather trip one time (to make sure it worked). Didn't try it it again for about four years. We use space heaters. Mild Louisiana winters.
Wouldn't work. Found that the blower comes on, and then the burners. Dirt daubers had built and blocked the "squirrel cage" blower, not allowing start up. (Ours was under the frige)

SOMETIMES, especially if we haven't been in a while, I'll have to light the stove and let it run for 5 minutes or so to get a good gas flow to the appliances(refridge, furnace). If the refridge doesn't have a good flow, a yellow light(on the control panel) will come on telling me the gas is off/out. When it's working good, no light. The furnace doesn't have this feature. But the OP may have to cycle the starting procedure a few times to get it going. The key is get the gas flowing by lighting the stove for several minutes.

Hopefully, the gas tank(s) are turned on.

For the stove issue, I had that as well. Called FR and they told me to light the burners on top of the stove and let run for a little bit to "circulate the gas" through the lines. It worked....

Just an update on my oven.

My oven has a pilot light, the oven will not work unless the pilot light is lit first. I was having trouble getting the pilot light to light, and thanks to someone here (sorry I forgot who it was) telling me what I was doing wrong it now works. Now that I know how to do it I will just light it when I need it and turn everything off when I'm done. Still working on the furnace issue. You guys have given my several suggestions for things to try, just haven't had a chance yet. I will let you know how I make out.
Thanks again for all the help.

What model radio do you have in your unit? If it's an IRV 66 they are known to have multiple issues. There's a whole forum dealing with them. Many of us have gone directly to the manufacturer and have had the problems dealt with immediately. (They know there is an issue).

To comment about Forest River products, I think it's the luck of the draw. We had a 2013 Rockwood 5er, there were no issues at all. The floor plan didn't work for us so we got a 2015 Rockwood 5er and it's had nothing but problems.

If you think factory is bad. Get ready as most dealer service dept.are the pits. Plan on losing the camper for at least a month or more. God only knows what they will tear up while it is in there. Most techs have no real training or certifications like auto dealers. The bulk are $10-$12 an hour. But we as buyers put up with it so we are to blame. I am an old geezer so I know our Wildcat will be our last no mater what we will not buy another. Good luck and to get it fixed you have to be a pain in their butt and get nasty with them. This is sad as we buy them to relax and enjoy them which I can tell you so far we haven't with ours. My next move if not satisfied will be a lawyer. But over the years I haven't had much luck with lawyers. Good luck Bill

I bought a stainless steel screen that goes over the furnace inlet/outlet on the outside... keeps the dirt dobbers out. I have never had a problem with it. I think it was under $20-. I got one for my son-in-law at the same time. His dad had to pay a little over $500- getting his replaced after the dirt dobbers got through with it. Cheap insurance...

I had several issues with my 300RL. FR took care of all items. I am very happy with their customer service. He is correct in saying takes about a year to work out kinks!

I found a local RV repair location that did most of warranty work. JL RV REPAIRS IN FONTANA CA

I bought my 2003 Wildcat 28FBS at a repo auction and never had a problem I couldn't fix. So what do I do when it turns 12? Trade it in on a new Crusader 28RL so I can fix a multitude of problems. It's all good though. On my furnace I had to do the " let it retry then power down 1 min and power up retry " 2 times for the furnace to fire up after I forgot to open the propane tanks (I had them out making a modification in the storage compartments and then reinstalled). Also water leak at the pump was a loose connection. I found that before our first trip, the pump is in the basement, and the leak was less than a pint. Hope your problems are this this simple.

Getting tired of being told " try this and if you still have a problem you will get a new frig" it's been over a year. They can come up with more things to try every time . It still does not work right. bought 2nd year warranty and sure am glad. But it does not seem like any warranty is good..

I have too agree with all of the above.
Will say this though. They at Forest River do have great design people on board. It's just their workmanship that lets the company down.

well, i have been turning it off each and every time. so I guess that I do have a pilot light, but since I relight it each and every time, I didn't think of it that way.

TBH, i prefer turning it off so I don't use the extra propane

Update.

Furnace still not working after trying several suggestions. I'm going to remove the couch tomorrow and check all the connections. The water pump. The black case is cracked, it looks like the screws were over tightened. I removed the screws holding it to the floor and set it in a pan to catch the water until I can get it replaced.

Oh, if I could only be there, I wouldn't be any help at all.

But let me ask a question or 2(like I really know what I'm talking about).

When you turn the thermostat to HEAT, you said the blower comes on for about :30 and shuts off. If you go outside where the furnace vents, when the blower is on, do you smell any gas or anything that resembles burning soot?

I'm "thinking", either the thermostat is not telling the furnace to ignite or there is a problem with the igniter.

Do an extensive search on FRF for furnace issues and even go to the internet or YouTube and search for rv furnace problems.

If you were down here with us now, you wouldn't be thinking about a furnace. If I were you, (if you can't get it fixed yourself) use electric space heaters to get you by until the end of the season and then take it to your dealer.

Let us know how things turn out.

No oven pilot in my 5th wheel. I have a long flexible lighter I use when (almost never) that we need to use the oven.

Clicker for the stovetop.
