Floor construction material?

Hi there, looking to buy a Salem Hemisphere 30BH, 5th wheel. I can’t find anywhere that says what the flooring materials are in these trailers... plywood or pressboard etc? Does anyone have problems with these floors going soft? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum its a great place to get your questions answered. All brands of RVs in all years have experienced soft floors somewhere. I don't not think it is a very common thing these days with the new flooring material. Use the search function at the top right of the page there are many articles on soft spot.

Thanks. I was wondering if anyone knew in particular what the Salem’s 5th wheel flooring was. But I’ll try that search option! Thanks !

If your trailer has floor vents you might could pull one and see, maybe under one of the cabinets where plumbing goes through the floor or if you have a tub access in the bathroom. I do not own a Salem but there are places that you may be able to verify if you do some looking. Hope this helps.

I think OSB is the material of choice of the manufacturer for ease and primarily for price.

When shopping two years ago two layers of luan was popular on moderately priced units. That is a problem. Also minimum under floor structure.

Find out before you buy. Luan is not a structural material.

VERY THIN plywood.
And it is lauan. Often made from wood from a Lauan tree in the Philippines.

I heard whatever the material is used under the bed is usually what the flooring is? My current trailer has plywood under the bed but has OSB under the other storage spots like the booths... and I’m certain the floor is also plywood. The trailer I am looking to buy (Salem Hemisphere) still has me guessing... I need to have another look over it tomorrow.
