So far none have worked I contacted dometic about the soft start kit that Canonman mentioned earlier in post they did not offer to send it for free but gave me a part # that turns out to be the supco spp6. $12.95 on ebay hopefully it's all I need. BTW it's been 100 degrees here in moses lake WA. We will be camping this weekend with no hookups and no A/C. 😅

Sorry the Dometic folks are being less than supportive in providing the kit. I'll remember that in the future. If you can get the parts locally installing the mod is snap. You already got the cover off and that's 1/2 the work
Just in case you need them, here are the instructions I had sent to me

QUICK START KIT
Part No. 3102903.006
The Quick Start Kit can be installed on all Duo-Therm roof mounted air conditioners and heat pumps. The Quick Start Kit will
allow the compressor to start properly when operated on the Onan 2.8 Micro-Lite Generator as the 120 volt power source.
High ambient temperatures can affect the ability of the roof mounted air conditioner/heat pump to start on generator power.
The following parts are included in this Kit:
1 ea. 3100235.245 Start Relay 2 ea. 312219.002 Screw
1 ea. 3100236.219 Start Capacitor 1 ea. 3102904.038 Instructions
1 ea. 304750.227 Black Wire 2 ea. 307879.003 Screw
3 ea. 303937.670 Yellow Wire 1 ea. 312096.002 Screw
1 ea. 20009.002 Wire Nut 1 ea. 317188.000 Capacitor Strap
2 ea. 312219.002 Screw
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
All field wiring modification should be made in compliance with the 1990 ANSI/NFPA 70 N.E.C. and
1987 ANSI A119.2 for Recreational Vehicles.
This unit must be serviced by a Dometic Service Center or a
qualified service technician. Modification of this product can
be extremely hazardous and could result in personal injury or
property damage.
Read and understand these instructions BEFORE attempting
to install the Quick Start Kit. Keep these instructions with
the air conditioner manuals.
1. Turn all AC and DC power off at the circuit breaker.
2. Remove shroud from unit and cover from electrical box.
3. Locate and completely remove the PTCR device, start
capacitor, and their wires. Some models have the PTCR
and start capacitor combined into one part, or only have
a PTCR device. See FIG. 1A and FIG. 1B.
4. Mount the new start capacitor in the electrical box using
the capacitor strap supplied in the kit.

5. Determine a suitable location in the units electrical box
and the new start relay.
6. Locate the wire that supplies the AC power to the overload
(Common or “C” terminal) of the compressor.
Note: Some models have a cold control switch installed in
this lead.
7. Cut the compressor AC power wire in half inside the electrical
box.
8. Cut the piggy back terminal off the end of the Black wire
supplied with kit. Strip insulation back 1/2" on all three
wires and connect together with the wire nut. Using electrical
tape, secure with wire nut.
9. Connect the remaining end of the Black wire to the #5
terminal on the new start relay.
10. Connect the first yellow wire from the kit and connect
the insulated flag terminal to terminal #2 on the new start
relay. Connect the other end to the fan run capacitor
terminal marked “HERM”.
11. Connect the insulated flag of the second yellow wire to
the #1 terminal on the new start relay. Connect the other
end of the second yellow wire to one terminal of the new
start capacitor.
12. Connect the third yellow wire (non-insulated terminal) to
the “C” (common) terminal of the fan/run capacitor. Place
the other end of the third yellow wire on the remaining
terminal on the new start capacitor.
FIG. 2
13. Recheck the wiring for loose or shortened terminals and
correctness.
14. Replace the electrical box cover and shroud. Turn the
AC and DC power supplies back on and test the opera
tion of the unit per the Owner/Operator’s Manual.
15. Keep these instructions with the Owner/Operator

This is a copy of the Email that dometic sent to me.

Dometic air conditioners generally need a 3500 watt generator for 1 unit and 5000 for 2 or more units ( plus whatever else you are running ) however , the start up amps is usually 40% of the run amps so it is not unusual to need a start assist for your generator and ac unit.

Here is a copy of the first response I received from Dometic regarding the compatibility of the Dometic 3000 and the 13,500 A/C. Name and phone number are included.
Hope it helps.

Subject: A/C, Generator question

We have a travel trailer with a 13,500 btu A/C unit. We are hoping to buy the Dometic LW3000P generator.
Dometic's advertising on the generator says it will run the 13,500 A/C unit. Can you confirm?? Love the Dometic products and would like to match the right small genny to the TT.
Thanks
Brian Oakden

I remember seeing the same generator at a Trailer Show in Toronto last winter. They admitted that 13,500 in hot sun would possibly not work right at the show. Seems maybe old vs new sales and support information. Minimum I would use is 3.5 kw peak watts as they mentioned. Looking at either 2 Champion Inverter 4 kw peak 3.2 kw peak.

Since the OP had said he had the 3000 already,
"So I posted in another topic that I bought a dometic lw3000 plus and it would run my 13500 a/c. Well that was before I tried to run it on a hot day "
I was hoping Dometic would treat him as well as they did me. The start kit works. Really hot days or not. I'm pretty sure OP would rather not invest in a new generator if the one he has can work for him.

Well my hard start kit from dometic came in today and I hav already installed it. It was very simple to do,it says to connect red wire to Herm on fan run cap and white wire to "C" terminal on fan run cap. But generator still will not run A/C 😞.

The temp here is only 80 degrees, fridge is running on LP, WH is off, I've even turned off the converter. Might try the fan delay before purchasing a new generator.

Sorry to hear the kit didn't help. Did Dometic customer support have any suggestions?
Do you have any way to verify the output of the 3000; Or the possibility of a weak breaker?
Any chance for a warranty call?

That gennie is only 2600 watts continuous.
Thats roughly 21 amps.
Your a/c will most likely need 18 amps to start.
So at best its marginal.
Especially if that gennie is overrated.

Lol I'd have to wonder how they show that outlet being 30 amp when the gennie at normal running capacity only puts out at best 22 amps!

I see that you have an idle control, lower left of picture. Have you turn it off when trying to run AC? On mine I have to have it off.

Yes idle control was off, i did run ac on shore power for about 10mins to cool down trailer and went back up to recheck connections and I do notice that the fan motor is almost to hot to touch. But everything is running ok except when running on generator and the compressor try's to turn on it goes to overload indicator.

Been looking at this thread for a while after all the comments I think in the fall I will be looking for the champion 3100. It seems to have better reviews than the dometic also it has a version that has electric start so if the lights go out at home while I'm at work my wife will be able to start it.

Ok I bought a tester to test the amps of the A/C during start up while hooked up to to the generator. When the fan kicks on the amps are at 3.4 while the fan is still running and the compressor kicks on the amps jump up to 26 amps and the generator goes into overload. Not sure if I'm right but that is roughy around 2800 watts.

So I decided to hook A/C up to shore power and run the same test with the the same meter (T5-1000) and when the fan kicks on the amps are at 3.1. When the compressor kicks on the amps go up to 39.6 for about 1 second then drop down to 12.5. Does that sound normal for the compressor to draw that many amps at startup?
