High pitched noise from the A/C

I have a 2014 Salem Cruise Lite 184BH with a window unit type Frigidaire A/C unit in it. I turn it on and it works great but when the compressor kicks in it makes a high pitched squealing noise.

The noise is bad enough I had to buy some ear plugs in order to sleep. Anyone else have this problem and have any idea how to fix it?

Compressors have internal moving parts, to compress the gas to a liquid. I've heard of a high pitched noise happening a few seconds after it turns off. That usually means the valves are scarred and freon is leaking back through the pistons/valves. Are you sure it's the compressor? Maybe not the fan? Otherwise it might be bearings going bad. how old is it? Warranty? if so, return immediately or call for work.
