Looking to upgrade

I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this or not but, DW and I purchased a 2014 salem 26TBUD the middle of last year. The TT has had an ongoing furnace issue, from day 1 of our purchace(which caused all 6 of us to get sick during xmas due to no heat). CW has gone back and forth trying to resolve the issue with no luck. They now believe that it is the control board for the furnace, so there is an appointment date scheduled to have the repairs made at the same time the roof is to be replaced due to damage.
So, we have come to realize that we would also really like to upgrade to a 5th wheel. My question is...What can I expect when I go to trade in my less than 1 year old TT?
Or should we postpone our plans to upgrade!

Expect a "huge" depreciation value hit when they make an offer on your TT for trade (probably around 20%)...but of course they'll offer you to add the shortage in your new camper loan...yikes!

Lol as the saying goes. ......
Buy your next camper first!

Sorry for your issue's.
Maybe the dealer needs a refresher course in furnace repair.
Id suggest a new dealer oooor call suburban tech service "if thats what brand you have"and try to have them help.
Not sure of your model if it is a suburban maybe this will help.

We're in the same boat, while we love our Hemi 282RK TT, we started looking for an upgrade. Ours is a 2015 model purchased this April. The best "deal" we could find on a trade is about a 25% hit. So if you buy a $50K 5er and take a $6K hit on your trailer, you've just paid $56K for a new trailer.

We're gonna wait!

Best option is to fix the furnace and try to sell outright.

Very good to know. Our TT retailed for almost 21k but found a deal for 17k. It'd be interesting to see if they would assume I paid 21k and hit me for 25%. And I almost break even. Can't hurt to see what they'd offer.

It's worth a talk anyway. The worse they can do is say no. Do you owe anything on it? I thiink thats the key issue in a lot of new trade ins

I think it also depends on the model you're looking to buy.

ughhhh.......we went through this.....we bought a trailer tow, traded that in on a fifth wheel, then traded that in on a diesel pusher(DP)....all of them new.....all within a 6 month period. We took a big hit...wish I would have started with the DP, which is where I think we all want to be if we can afford it.....the problem is we could not afford it, but now that we have it, know its the only way to RV...we love it and make the $$$ work......

You will definitely take a hit, but you have to enjoy the unit, whatever it is....otherwise, what is the point?

That's our same deal gmcnitt, but all we really want is a 5er. Just trying to decide if the hit will be worth it.

What you paid will have no bearing on trade in value...basically if you look up low retail price on blue book, take an additional 25% off that price and that'll be your Dealer's trade in offer or close to it...it won't be pretty!

Part of the significant depreciation is the fact that all warranties are not transferable. They are only valid for the original purchaser. This forces preowned RV's down in price next to a similar year new one. Even if you purchased and never drove it off the lot

Hmmm. Ok. Good to know. We might have to just suck it up and go for it after the furnace and roof get repaired.

Don't be in a hurry. Sell your TT privately and then go buy the 5er with the extra cash in hand.
