Moving to Salem

Hi All. We just traded our Grey Wolf 17BH for a 2018 Salem Cruise Lite 241QBXL, and will be taking possession in a couple of days. It was getting harder to fold our mid fifties bodies into and out of the bunk, so it was time for a queen bed. We will also be gaining 3 1/2 feet of length, a bigger awning, and a few other things. Losing a few things as well, but the pros outweighed the cons, so here we are! Going to miss the Grey Wolf crowd, but looking forward to meeting the Salem peeps.

We had the 24QBXI - for the most part loved it. The only complaint was the AC was very loud and it did not come with a battery cut off switch - two minor issues but overall loved the camper. Recently sold it after deciding to take our dogs camping with us so we went to Class A.

So far, my only complaint is less storage than we had before, and only room for one battery (which I can modify). But, for better sleeping arrangements, three feet more living space, and a larger bathroom, I can deal with it. The perfect RV is out there somewhere being used by Unicorns . Looking forward to taking it out soon on a shakedown cruise.

I had a 2017 241QBXL. Probably the best bathroom layout in all of RVdom. Certainly the room beside the lavatory. The first thing I would do is reinforce the outer couch joint. The wood is soft and my screws (think there are two)pulled loose. They sawed the screw hole when I would sit on the couch. I took a L bracket and screwed it to the joint.

The bathroom was one of the things that sold us on the trailer, and the fact that is was at the opposite end of the trailer from the bed. Our last trailer’s BR was right next to the bed and was a bit disruptive in the middle of the night.

Thanks for the advice with the couch, I will look at that this weekend.
