New Salem Hemisphere Owner

My Wife and I just purchased a brand new 2017 Salem hemi 29BH. Didn't really want to buy when it was so cold out that we couldn't use it, but couldn't pass up the deal. I feel like we got a good deal, $20,500. With that said it is going back to get some things worked on this Saturday. The slide is real slow on the way out and kicks the motor out from working so hard (it ran fine when we picked it up), and when you bring the slide in it doesn't strain at all. Also while putting all of our stuff in it, noticed the rubber roof on the slide had two small rips in it, and the exhaust fan over the stove didn't work. Im not really to worried about the problems seeming how we just bought it and the dealer is going to fix it all but I've never dealt with the accu slide. How are they over time?

You are much better to put it in a storage lot....out of sight out of mind....it's going to be a long winter for you looking at it everyday!!

I wish I had that option. In talks about building a lean to at my parents house to store my parents and our camper under.

We've had our 302FK Salem Hemisphere (35') for almost 2 years and are pretty happy with it.

Dealer has fixed: Bad cooling unit in frig, faulty outside stabilizer switch, replaced the entertainment center (outside speakers quit working), drawer face panels pulled loose (under dinette seats), bedroom closet floor has pushed down and out twice (I fixed 2nd time).

Everything else is good. We have pulled it from Lansing, MI to Marathon, FL and are getting ready to do it again. Can't wait to go scuba diving.

I just noticed this evening after hooking it up and getting it ready to take to the dealer tomorrow, that the slide is out of track I guess. One side has all the rubber seal covered up when in and the other side has half the seal showing. I would say that's my problem with the slide.

Got it back this past Saturday. The slide seems to be better but I'm still not sure if it is fully adjusted right. Time will tell.

It looks like our rigs are very similar, even down to the tow vehicle. I've got a 2004 GMC Duramax crewcab. I hope the dealer got the slide right for you.

I have talked with Tim at NORCO on the accuslide and he had me spray the bottom of the slide with a dry lube and that helped out the smoothness when in motion but when the slide is extended out all the way and it comes time to slide it back in, it is like it cant make it up what little incline to come back into the camper. Tim told me to unhook the motor from the wiring harness and run leads to a full charged 12V battery and see how it does. I guess he is thinking maybe it is having a voltage issue. Im going to try and dive into it tomorrow and see what i get.

So I ran leads from a 12v battery and that changed nothing. But it back together and the more I thought about it the madder I got. So I took off all the trim on the top of the slide and started adjusting the cables. The dealer had the top cables way tighter than the bottom cables and I believe that was causing all the issues. After messing with it for 30 minutes I think I finally have it.

Wow I saw that price you paid and thought I paid way to much for my 282RK. Out of curiosity I checked on your model number and it was the Hyper-light version of the Hemi which is a lot less expensive. Nice camper nonetheless and still a good deal. Enjoy and have fun.

I don't know if you would call it less expensive. The lighter versions. Its msrp was 38500 or something like that. Which I would never pay for. Got close to half off. Most places were around 26000 for it.

Yeah I had just updated to the new APP and it has a pic of the higher end version on your post. Also the model numbers on these things are all over the place for instance the 282RK is 35' and the 29BH in the Hyper Lyte is 32' & some inches. BTW no slight on your behalf that is a fine camper you have for right at 20 grand.

It's all good man. I know it has all options I think besides an outside shower which I'm OK with.

I'm glad you got it figured out. Camping season is just around the corner.
