Possible new Salem owner

Hello. Looking at purchasing a 2004 Salem F21 tomorrow. Can't find any reference to this model online and not in the NADA guide. I saw the 5th wheel a few days ago and it looks really clean inside. Taking the wife with me tomorrow to get her thoughts. The "special internet" price is $9,900. I have a Dodge 1500 short bed so I'll need a slider hitch so another $1,500 approx. Then tax at about $1,000 for everything which would be $12,400. Was thinking about asking for $10k out the door with everything. Anybody think that would be a fair deal? Or should I start lower? We're in no big rush to buy (well, the wife would disagree) so I have no problem walking out the door without it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Is this being bought from dealer or a private owner? If from a dealer I`d start lower and try and get them to throw in a hitch since it is a 6yr old unit alot of companies have 2010`s out. Looks like a very nice unit though

Hello! Thank you for your reply. It's from a dealer. So you're thinking $10k for the rig, hitch and tax is too high?

Didn't mean to hit the send button. Back to my original reply...

I like the way you're thinking. Want as low of a price as possible. Since the camper is $9,900 I should start at say $5k and go from there? Should I talk about the slider hitch and tax right off the bat or wait until I agree on a price on the camper?

i`d give them a price and wait for counter offer than if its a fair price that you can live with i`d tell them ok if you throw in hitch work. Make them give till it hurts lol .Its a buyers market right and they want to sell them units

Thanks for the encouragement. I ended up not buying this unit. Wife really wants brand new and of course I want lower price. As of right now we're looking at a 2009 RK Puma, 25', $25k MSRP. Sale price is $13,900k. We're waiting on the bank approval...

Congrats on your new purchase.Buying new is always very exciting and thats sounds like a very good price for a new one and you will have warranty also that is a good thing
