power problems
I have a 2005 Salem. When plugged into shore power, the microwave and TV, etc work, but lights do not when the battery is dead. The battery is not charging when plugged in.
My problem solving so far:
1) I have checked all the fuses in the fuse panel and are all good.
2) When I disconnected the cables from the battery (while plugged into the house) and tested with a voltmeter, I only get .64 volts.
3) The batteries are connected correctly.
4) The ground is good.
5) When I hooked the batteries to a trickle charger and charged them completely, everything works perfect.
I am assuming it is a bad converter? Any other ideas on what to try or test?
This is so far outside my fixing ability, but am willing to try basic stuff to test it before going to a repair shop. We are supposed to leave on Wednesday for a 3 week trip at a campground w/power. Worst case, I will just take the battery charger and keep recharging the batteries if I cannot get it fixed in time.
