The way the receiver works the landing gear is by switching polarity of the power going to the landing gear motor thereby reversing the motor. They designed the remote to send power one way when the up button is pressed and the opposite way when the down button is pressed, so reprogramming the remote to change that isn't allowed. Swapping the wires is the simplest way of reversing the operation of the landing gear.

We're not too far from Fairhope, and my sis lives right near there.

FYI -- There's a button on the receiver to allow you to pair a remote to it (max two remotes can be paired at the same time). Once you pair the remote then you can program it for the individual functions.

My reciever is an 8 function and has a number of fuses on the unit itself. The link will show 5 and 8 function, with and without hydrulic functions as well as some older 1st generation units. I am in the process of having mine replaced under warranty as some functions will work on switches and remote and some only on switches and some only on remote. I labeled all the wires attached to the unit for reference using a 12v teat light.
