Salem Villa Estate Questions?

does anyone know if the salem villa estate hot water heater is electric or propane? stupid book doesn't tell much.......and i am a women rv'ing alone right now......just want to make sure i don't run out of propane

Any recommendations for a truck to pull 2014 salem villa estate 40 footer......i had dealer deliver my rv to park, and i am staying in the park for 1 year, so i have time to shop around for the truck. Appreciate everyone's imput.......

Chevy, Dodge, Ford, pick one they are all close, I would go with a dually and a diesel.
Do you plan on driving in the winter if so then a 4X4 might be a good idea, if not the a two wheel drive will do fine.

IMHO however, a dually would be overkill. You only have 1600lbs on the hitch. If it were a fiver with 3000lbs on the pin, you would want 4 tires to carry that load. But an HD pickup or SUV may be your only option.

1 ton dually, I prefer Ford diesel.

I would first look at the trailer specifactions to see what the hitch weight and trailer weight are you will need this info for your 5th wheel hitch size, you will need at least a 3/4 ton and maybe a 1 ton truck

Its not a 5th wheel.......dry hitch weight is 1492 and with cargo carry capacity 2773 unloaded vehicle weight..10660 lbs.......took this off of the spec. Paper.....help me please......all french to me.........lol

I say dually for the more stable platform.

It is about 40 feet long.

The dry weight is moot because you now have water, propane and whatever gear you have put in it.

You need to know what it weighs now.

I agree. I think the weights are going to be unimportant. It's needs something large for the stability.

Yes, you stop and think about it this TT is about as long as some semi trailers.

These types of trailers are primarily for the full timer who doesn't move around to much. Like say winters in the south and summers up north. It's more of a mobile home than it is your typical RV trailer. If you do want a good weekender with loads of space, look at a fifth wheel or motor coach.

well for me renting would work fine, but my husband will be returning back from afganistan and he thinks he needs a truck......he will probably win this battle.......lol thanks for your imput, greatly appreciate it

I doubt that you can rent a 1-ton (or 3/4) that it's approved to tow with.

I like the Dodge diesel 6.7 3500 one ton but Ford or Chevy have models that will work. The diesel has power to spare and will last forever, the engine brake and tow haul mode will get you up the mountain easily as well as down it safely without touching your brakes for the most part. So, I suggest you put those items on your must have list for whatever truck model you go with.

I'm new here, first post. I just bought a '14 Villa Estate 394FKDS. My water heater is both electric and propane. The electric switch is located in the heater compartment on the heater itself.
