Exclamation Side coming off new Salem 27 RKSS

I bought a new Salem 27 RKSS in March. On first outing in April during a rain storm had a big leak that make sizeable puddle inside trailer. On second outing in May going down highway front right seam of trailer opened up, wind caught siding and blew off one complete aluminum panel and buckled two others. I had to patch with sheet metal so I could get it home. Had this fixed. On next big trip in July, going down highway left front seam opened up and caught siding billowing it out. I luckily caught sight of this in my mirror and was able to pull over before it completely blew off. Had to screw and tape siding in place since I was 900 miles from home.
Forest River Company and Salem have been no help except to say they would fix it as good as new. My response was it is new and look what happened. I would like to know if anyone else ever had a similar problem. My dealer said he recently had to replace another Salem's siding for similar problem. I'm thinking this is the beginning of a serious problem for Forest River and Salem.

I hate to say this but I'm not surprised.
Bought at Salem 30 QBSS in April and have had nothing but problems with it.
I hope you get it all worked out.

Let's see.
Tires wearing. Coupler chewing up hitch balls.
Sinks that leaked were fixed and still leaked.
Slide out that leaked and damaged floor by putting a big gouge in it.
Stereo that has stopped working properly.
Seams on inside panels that were not flush with one another.
Water tank that drains as you drive.
Microwave that fell out after 4 th trip.
Frame that was rusted.
Seam tape falling off of interior walls because it was installed incorrectly.
Trim that wasn't even put on and what was put on falling off.
Screws missing from interiors of Windows.
Bathroom had absolutely no sealant on seams by sink or in shower and tub area.
Had to fight to get dealer to help me. Would not return my calls or emails until I got in contact with Forest River.
Quality is horrible.
I'm sure I have forgotten other items.

Also had cabinets that were chipped so badly they had to be replaced as well as cabinet doors.
These items should not have passed though any type of quality inspection. I doubt it was even inspected before it left the factory. Still wondering how it made it through the pdi at the dealer.
Now I understand why he was so rushed hen he to me through it.

I don't want to get off of Tmuir415 topic......but

something that Tufster65 said all of you might want to keep an eye on.

That is the coupler chewing the hitch ball up.

I have a 2015 Hemisphere 282rk that did the same thing. Not sure why.
I'm using a Blue Ox WDH.

My Hemi 282RK did the same thing. I felt the trailer coupler pocket and sure enough, there is a large piece of metal, weld spatter, or something which is gouging the ball. I used a dremmel with a grind bit to smooth it off.

I think it was a burr also. I did the same.
Mine was brand new when this happened.

I've pulled a lot different trailers with and without grease in the coupler. Never had a problem, ever.

Has to do with the way you load camper too, if you have all the weight on the front without a wdh.

We have a 2015 Salem Hemisphere 286rl, while traveling on interstate at 60-65 mph roof pealed off, along with roof vents. Forest River took care of problem, said if was a glue issue and they knew of the problem.

trouble with Salem

Well, at least I know that I'm not the only one having issues. Mine has been in shop going on 4 weeks. Dealer can't get parts keeps calling and gets runaround. Latest is parts are on truck to be delivered. (Sounds like check is in the mail) Last Forest River product I'll ever own. If I wouldn't loose so much money I'd trade it tomorrow and buy another brand. I've hade Aerolites and Puma and no issues. Might be looking into legal resolutions.

Any one interested in sending Warren Buffit a letter complaining about his Forest River products. I was told there were over 100 units like ours that came off assembly line with same problem of roof glue. Anyone want to be behind one of these units if the roof peals off.

Peter Liegl is CEO and President of Forest River, he did own it but sold it to Warren Buffit of Berkshire Hathway.

Mr. Buffits mailing address is:

Let's flood his mailbox with letters and ask him to just read FR forum or Google Highway Transportation and Safety Administration.
