Stick & Tin Wall Construction?

I have a 2009 Salem TT (as shown below).

I plan on installing a rear-view camera and will need to punch a hole in the rear wall to do so. I'd prefer to wall-fish the wire down through the wall as I hate ugly wiring.

What would my wall have inside for insulation? Is it something I would be able to fish through, or is it some type of expanding foam? The info I have indicates "R7 insulation", but I have no idea what that means!

I guess that the easiest way for you to determine the type of insulation in your unit would be to access the inside of the wall through an existing opening. For example: around a vent or an electrical or TV connection box. You could also just ask your dealer. In my experience stick-built units usually rely on plain old fiberglass insulation.

You might want to consider surface-mount wiring channel to hide those wires if that is your main concern. I would run my wires inside overhead cabinets in so far as that is possible. Then come straight down the wall with surface mount. Fishing a wire through a fiberglass insulated wall is possible, as long as you don't run into a horizontal framing member. Intuitively, fiberglass insulation would seem easy to get a fish tape through. But sometimes...

The "R" value is a measure of insulating capability as measured against (as I recall) inches of solid wood. An R7 wall would insulate as well as 7 inches of solid wood. So the bigger the R number the better the insulation.

It has no reference as to the insulation material or wall construction.
