stove exhaust fan venting

I just received my 2014 Salem Villa Estate 394FKDS and was wondering if the stove hood exhaust fan should be vented outside to the side of the unit. There is no outside vent on the unit and the service tech thought there should be one. He took the fan cover off and there is no exhaust venting. Can anyone tell me if their unit has one or if not how the exhaust fan vents.

This is one of many issues I have, but can only tackle one at a time.
