Tires

Hey y'all quick question. I have a 2004 Ford Expedition towing a 2018 28 ckds with a GVWR of 9638, 34 foot 6 inch overall. Looking for input on what tires to purchase. Looking to do some cross country traveling this summer.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Without any information about the vehicle's wheels, it's tough to be more specific than this: get LT rated tires, not P rated. That's general advice for any vehicle that's going to be towing.

Look for the LT prefix. Something like LT275/75R18, as an example for a tire that would fit on an 18" wheel.

With such a heavy trailer, also look for a load rating of E.

Good luck.

A 2004 Expedition 4WD has a max tow rating of 8650.

I still don't know much about your vehicle's wheels, but my general statements above hold. Find an LT tire with E rating that fits your wheel/vehicle. If you like A/T style tires, get those. If you like smoother riding highway Michelin-type tires, get those. Really, get whatever tire you like ... just make sure LT and E.

Good luck.

Currently have Goodyear wrangler P265/70R17 tires. Was thinking of going to D load range, but looks like should be going with EF's instead.
