We purchased a F-250 King Ranch with crew cab and long bed to tow our new 282RK. The truck will certainly do the job, but there's one small problem.

We just moved into a gated retirement community and have discovered that you cannot park anything bigger than a 1/2 ton truck in your driveway (won't fit there anyway because the driveway is curved) and it doesn't fit in our garage....the trucks to long.

So much as it pains me, we see no alternative but to trade......again.

My question: For those of you who pull the 282RK, what truck do you recommend?

We're considering another F-250 with a diesel engine, super cab and short bed. But I'm wondering if there is an F-150 that would work as well.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

with that 5th wheel you "could" and people will tell you it's no problem, but you are already used to a heavy truck with a diesel engine. You might not be happy with a F150.

As you can see in my signature were towing a 282RKX w/F150. We ordered it with Max Tow & HD Payload options. Our available payload is #2162 & rated to tow 11,200. Trailer is just over 10K loaded. 9.1-9.9mpg 60-63mph.

I feel confortable with my 2008 5.7 Tundra. She pulls my 2011 Flagstaff 8528BHSS (9K loaded). My 1/2 ton is rated at 10,500. Gets around 9mpg at 55mph and I don't go over 55 (sorry retired).

I have a F150 XLT Eco-Boost and it is rated for 11,200 as well. Pulls my 308RES Lacrosse very well.

Well we decided to trade and found a good deal on a 2008 f-250 with an extended cab and short bed. It only has 33,000 miles on it and looks brand new. It came with a bed cover and we both started laughing when we opened the cover and found that it came with a fifth wheel hitch as well. Who knows, we may eventually trade up to a fifth wheel.....in the meantime, there it sits!

While we lost some money, it wasn't as bad as we thought it would be...... And I can actually drive this one!

Certainly cheaper than moving! 😄

OK, but we thought your dilemma was "not anything bigger than a 1/2 ton"??

No.... can't park anything bigger than 1/2 ton in the driveway.

and extra cab 3/4 ton diesel doesn't take up any more space than extra cab 1/2 ton

We traded a full crew cab with a long bed for an extended cab with a short bed. Saved us 3 feet ...which makes it fit in the garage.

it wouldn't be any bigger if you got an extended cab 3/4 ton diesel
