Underneath the bed

My wife and I just recently purchased a Cruise-lite 181bhxl. But we were wondering what is underneath our bed, are there tanks there, as the plywood is screwed in. Didn't want to unscrew the plywood screws just yet.

Has anyone already checked theirs, or is this suppose the extra storage?

From the drawing it looks like the bed is right above the storage you can access from outside. You might be able to get a clue from looking at from the storage door and seeing if it been closed off or not. In my case the bed storage and the pass through storage share the same area (in other words are one in the same).

The drawing is wrong, there is no outside storage door on the rear side of the trailer

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong model. Is your unit different from the pic below?

Ours is 2013 the same model as the picture, but it does not have the storage as shown. I am thinking that is a 2012 or 2011 model? Maybe they forgot to put one in ours?

It is listed as 2013 on the FR website but maybe there's been a change in the design since your unit was built which isn't all that unusual.

Just curious - Do you have one or two storage areas in your unit?

Just guessing but maybe you have hidden storage under the bed after all but those screws are throwing me for a loop. I wish there were more information available on floorplans.

Your floorplan looks real nice - especially with having a couch too.

Unscrew and see what is inside, never hurts to look. I unscrew everything and look to see what is there. I had a new PUP that had the electrical area cover screwed down. I opened it up, repositioned some of the wiring with wire ties and vacuumed up the left over saw dust and things.

I will do that, probably this coming weekend, or when the temperature here lets up. Too darn hot atm, specially inside the trailer

Ours has only one small outside-accessed storage compartment, and it projects into the space under our bed. But then the bottom of our bed also lifts up, there are two pneumatic struts that lift-assist the plywood right up. Then there's more area for storage. It was never screwed down or closed like that...

ok, got a look inside under the main bed, here are the pictures, and it looks like alot of wasted space just to have the fresh water tank there. Wonders why FR decided to do it this way?
Could they have mounted it differently and still have outside storage?

We have a 2013 181bhxl the only outside storage we have is under the bed. Looks very similar to your pictures but the tank is moved over. Ours is different than the floor plan you have just a bit. The storage table next to the couch is on the other side. I wonder if you can have different models within a model?

That looks like a big waste of space alright. I would hinge and strut that and use it for storage. Or even easier you could drill a small hole in the wood to use as a finger hole to lift up the wood and just leave the screws out.

One word of caution would be to make sure nothing goes in there that would puncture the water tank or wear a hole in it while going down the road.

Be forewarned that I am not an expert and maybe there is some method to their madness.

I have one outside storage door, that is on the driver side, which is basically under the couch. But everything else is according to the floor plan with the exception of no outside storage in rear part of trailer, passenger side.

So after looking at your trailer pictures two things first is I dont have a outdoor storage compartment like yours under the couch. Second is where my storage door for the under bed is your awning rackets are sitting in its place. Maybe that's why they didnt include the door.

I wonder if one is manufactured in Indiana, the other in California? Or basically NW region has different rules versus, SW region or California?
