Warranty Issues

We bought our Salem Cruise Lite 232RBXL last March. We love it. The RV Show promo included, among other things, 2nd year warranty and Colored LED Awning Light with Remote (Limited Time Options). Shortly after we got it the LED strip had three green lights at one end go out. My dealer replaced the strip and I signed the warranty work order. Later the new strip malfunctioned. Near the middle, three red and green LED's quit. Yesterday, my dealer replaced the strip again. I didn't have to sign anything, though, because the service tech said they were eating it this time, because it's not worth it to fight with Forest River. And he implied that if it malfunctions again, I'm on my own.

Are they really this bad?

There are various quality levels of LED strips out there and some are much more weather resistant than others. My guess is that these were not the high end ones. That being said LED strips are relatively inexpensive and many can use the existing controller ( just can't mix single color and multiple color controllers). If it goes out again, get a good quality outdoor strip and replace it yourself. Try Superbrightleds.com

Are you asking if the LED strips are really that bad or if FR is really that bad?

If you area asking if FR is this bad, I would say no. I have had nothing but great experiences with warranty issues. In my opinion it comes down to how good your dealer is. I have had major and minor issues and both were easy to deal with, with my dealer and FR. Dealer fixed the issues fast and fast approval from FR.

Remember RV manufacturers are assemblers.

Most of the stuff that goes bad, is made by other manufacturers.

I think i seen that same multi color led strip they put on them on amazon for less than $20. That should give you an idea as to the quality.
