What Mr. Tire didn't tell you is the DSI ignitor is also the flame sensor. It send a millivolt signal back to the gas valve and tells it to stay open so spark gap is important as is the end of the ignitor must be in the flame to produce the rrquired voltage to keep the gas valve open.

Daryl, are you positive that's not what I was stating in my next to last paragraph when I listed the 3 more common causes?

Have you made sure you have propane, and possibly turned off/on again the inside DSI switch in case you were in lockout mode?

Is the water inside the tank cold? I know this is a weird question, but just making sure the water temp needs to be heated, as the dsi won't come on if the water is already hot.

Here is an update.....after 4 weeks of being at the shop (story for another day), they determined the control board was burned out. Odd for a brand new heater right? They said they found a dark spot on the board indicating moisture burned it out. How did moisture get to the board...they don't know. I hope I don't have a leak somewhere. It is working....for now.

Heck, I don't know for sure. At my age I forget my DW's name regularly. I just say 'hey you'....

Not sure but you aren't the first with board issues / moisture issues.
