Water in drain pipe

So, this is a little frustraring.
My 27DBK has a central sanitary drain hookup for 3 tanks. Black, bathroom and galley, each with it's own valve.
Every time I go to dump, I remove the valterra travel cover and there's about a pint of water that runs out. I think its grey, not black.
I drain black, galley, bathroom in order opening and closing valves accordingly.
I wait until nothing is left running out.
The next time I take to cover off, splash, yuck.
Any thoughts?

You may have one of your valves not shutting all the way. I use one of these to allow sewer hose hook-up before opening this valve

sounds like you might have something under a valve seat allowing the leak to happen. back flushing the gray valves may remove the obstruction. They make a clear elbow with a hose connection for doing just that. I use mine often.

The way many R/Vs are plumbed, they will hold a little water in the drain piping before the sewer port. As you drive, that water gets repositioned to the cap area to then trickle out next time you remove the cap.

We've owned several that have done this.

Two solutions... leave the cap off after dumping until you arrive home.
Or, install the valve mentioned in post # 2.

I learned this with my first RV. I was in line to dump my tanks and the guy in front of me was getting ready to dump his. He took the cap off, to attach the hose and got a shower. YUCK! I vowed to never let this happen to me and bought one of these. I have been using it ever since. It kept me from getting a shower, when our galley tank valve was leaking.

Get this valve and leave it attached. It will save you from that gross mishap at some point in the future!

As an added benefit, if you have a grey and galley tank, you may be able to use this to even out the water level between those tanks. No one ever fills there galley tanks, but the grey tanks fill up quickly. By leaving this closed and opening those two valves behind it, the water levels will even out. In order to work, the tanks themselves must be installed at the same level. This was great for our Avengers, but our Crusader has the grey tank about 3 feet below the galley tank. Therefore, it won't work.

Both galley and grey are mounted to the bottom of our TT, so that might be a good idea. There is a discrepancy in the manual and ad material on the size of the two tanks, and the galley tank seems too small. The extra capacity would be good. Thx.

On one of our trips I noticed that water was collecting in the drain with the cap on. I have a clear extension so that I do not have to crawl under camper to hook drain hose up. I thought that I had a leaking valve, but found out that the grey water shut off valve was not fully closed. I now ensure that I get those valves closed and have not had another incident.

Yeah, I thought that too. Double checked last time.
I have good angles from valves down to drain point. I am beginning to think it's just valve seepage.
Rubs me raw to have to buy a valve for my valves....
But not as raw as the raw sewage shower...

I just hold the hose under the drain with one hand while I take the cap off with the other hand. The pint or so of liquid flows right in. Nothing on the ground.

I have the same trailer and have the same problem. I think this may be a design flaw. I have purchased the extra valve. Hopefully this will work for me, like it seams to for others.
