Unhappy wet rug=bad smell

We had a water leak in our fifth wheel and the carpet in the bunk house slide got wet. I soaked it all up and wet vacced it but now these is a faint odor of wet dog! Has anyone tried the product called "damp rid" for this problem? I know folks use it to eliminate moisture in homes and rvs.

Imo. That’s only for humidity in the air. One would need 25 pounds of the stuff. It does work, but I think you need more drastic drying. Open windows and fans do well...assuming the weather cooperates.

A dehumidifier would be great if you have access. If the carpet is out I would spray some fungicide of some sort to help stop what created the smell.
