Winterizing issue

First time winterizing. Current temps in MO. Yesterday 72, today 35. Not a typo here is the steps I took.
Drained hot water tank. Put RV antifreeze in freshwater tank. Turned on pump. Opened faucets one at a time until pink. Filled P Traps. Because I am compulsive, I checked the sink one more time and it started spitting air and then pink foam, and then some pink, then nothing. Bathroom sink and shower ran fine but the toilet also foamed and trickled pink. Scratching my head. Then went out and my grey valve wouldn't open (35 degrees). Opened city water connection, pulled the screen, pressed the valve and nothing came out.

Did I do something wrong here to cause air, foam?

did you close by-pass valves at water heater?

You have drained all the liquid from the tank and now pumping air through the system.

That's a possibility. I put 5.5 gallons in the fresh water tank though. Was told it would be more than enough.

I would guess, since you used the fw tank method, you may need more antifreeze in the tank. Many of us either added or use the built in winterizing valve. It sucks AF from the bottles and pumps it right into the lines, avoiding the fw tank. With my lines full of AF, I pushed the check valve piece on the fw hookup like you did, and got nothing as well. Hoping it's fine come spring.

You don't want to put antifreeze into the fresh water tank. The biggest reason is you won't get all of the water out, so you end up diluting the antifreeze before it is even in the water lines, then it gets more diluted as it meets the pockets of water in the lines and valves.

Find the water pump and remove the intake line coming from the fresh water tank, and add a temporary 3-4 foot hose. Draw the antifreeze from the gallon jugs of antifreeze, undiluted.

Most don't put antifreeze in the freshwater tank and simply siphon from the jug, provided you have the winterizing bypass valve at your pump. If not it's pretty simple to add one in next season. Now you have pink stuff sitting in your freshwater tank all winter and will have to flush it out next spring. Not that big a deal but an unnecessary step.

When I pushed the plastic piece on the city water connection, like you, I did not get anything either. Then someone on here told me to leave the water pump on when doing it...bingo...then I got the big spray!

That makes since about having pump on while pressing city water valve. Thanks. I planned on installing the bypass to the pump and draw from AF jugs but Mother Nature snuck up quick and didn't have time. Tonight it's dropping in the teens. I did not have water in my fresh water tank, as I have always used city hook ups.

You don't even need the bypass valve. Just unhook the intake line and add a section of junk hose. Switch back when done.
