I have a 2014 sandpiper 30IOK fifth wheel. We purchased it new from the dealership. We have had it about 4 months and camped in it about 4 times. We took it back to the dealership to have a small factory paint defect repaired that was noticed. After leaving the unit for the repair the dealership called and said they found a problem of delamination. They said they would contact FR to get authorization to go ahead and fix the problem. Since the dealership is 4hrs away I told them to go ahead and fix it while they had it. Said it would take about 4-6 weeks. Has anyone else has a similar problem with a new unit? After researching what delamination was, is this a RV I should think about getting rid of if this problem is already occurring ? Any input would be helpful.
What did you notice or did they notice to know that? Does that pertain to the outside finish? I have a 2014 as well and I have a thread or two I need to post for some help. Thanks and I hope things go better. Also does that 6 weeks extend on to the end of the warranty. As I'm sure it's not that time consuming or is it.
They noticed it when they got it in the body shop to do some paint work that was a defect from the factory. It's on the outside. From what I read its a pretty big deal.
That's not good. I feel for anybody that spends hard earned money on something that isn't like it should be. Boy they sure wouldn't like it if your check wasn't worth what you said it was. I don't get how we don't have the same rights At least for a year. My 50,000 has just as much value as there's right!!

While delamination does occur, it's not a widespread problem and somewhat rare in Sierras and Sandpipers. Delamination usually occurs when there is water infiltration, which makes it important to keep a good watch on your joints and seams. Did the dealer happen to say where the delamination occurred? Most dealers are not equipped to handle these types of problems and it's best to send it back to the factory.
I sure hope this is an isolated problem as we just bought a 2015 35ROK. It is at the dealership having a couple of minor things fixed after 2 outings. This is our 2nd FR product and we have found several workmanship flaws in both
Sure hope your problem turns out to be minor as these are nice units
Our delaminating started because FR did not put mouldings trim on properly at the factory when built!!
The rear corner trim was put on with proper putty tape BUT they never took paper off o the tape so it could seal when fitted!
See photo of trim when tech removed it, see paper strip still on putty tape. Water to in cause of their poor construction methods and now our $45000.00 Sandpiper is suffering a costly rebuild. See photos of water damage delaminating side and rear walls removed now and being replaced with new construction by Courtenay RV Specialist. Excellent crew a total reconstruction of all RV's. Off warranty for some time but not one reply to letters sent to Forest River on this matter so we are on the hook for the $5000.00 rebuild. It will be done right now and not say FR on it anywhere.
