We have a Sierra fifthwheel about same length and the dealer told us we didn't need the second air even though it was set up for one. We called him from the beach. We were roasting. The new second unit went on as soon as we returned home. Well worth giving up the 100 lb carrying capacity as mentioned before.

The biggest reason to get it is redundancy.
Having that second AC when one goes bad will make it the best decision you even made.

If you don't mind sharing, about what is the cost of the second air conditioner when you are ordering a new unit? What size is it?

Mine was an additional $850. Depends on your dealer... BTU is 15000

Best $850 you'll spend on the camper...except when it's time for new tires!

Can you turn the second A/C off and run only one at a time?

Picked up the new Rv last week with the 2nd AC installed. Haven't had a chance to use it yet. Dealer didn't charge me for the 2nd unit!
