371REBH Hydraulic Landing Gear

My landing gear will not hold its position for more than a few days. You can feel the camper move when the cylinder retracts a bit. Happens when I am moving around..

This week I noticed the camper was moving a bit more and the rear stabilizers were not grounded anymore. I investigated and noticed the landing gear had dropped about an inch.

Is this normal? Do I need a new solenoid/valve for the landing gear. Should I put cutoff valves in line to stop this?

This is not normal. You definitely have a problem. Not sure where to tell you to look first. Would look for oil leak, then probably to the solenoid valve if both rams are dropping equally.

No oil loss... I am not sure if they are equally dropping. I will have measure daily to find this out..
This will have to wait 2 weeks until I get back to the camper

May Not be an Oil Leak or Solenoid, one of the cylinders may have a bypass. As they are plumbed together a bypass in one cylinder would effect both, the best way to find out is to put shut off valves on them but you have to make sure you open them before uesing the pump

Yes.. I was thinking shutoff valves would be the best route for long-term fix.. I park for 30 days at a shot..

Your landing gear should never creep. You have a leak somewhere whether it's in a line or valve.

I did have a leak in my hydraulics once and didn't know it for awhile as it collected in the underbelly.

I would definitely take it in to get it looked at before I put in cutoff valves. That just sounds like compounding the problem to me

Good luck!

It's a known problem. You need to add hydraulic fluid additive. Do a Google search on it. I am getting this problem dealt with under warranty. If it wasn't I was going to add CAT hydraulic fluid additive. Ours never crept down but made load popping sounds at night that were felt throughout the camper. It felt like it was creeping down. Google forest river hydraulic jacks popping.

Thanks.. that's the sound.. I am still under warranty and will make my dealer aware of the issue.. they need it for a few weeks to fix all the little things anyhow.

I did a lot of Google ing. To figure it out. It was on the forest river website but it's deep in it. Just keep on them for warranty.

The fix is just an additive? Would it be easier for me to add the additive to reservoir and cycle the landing gear a few times? Vs. Taking my camper to the dealer for a fix of the same type? Just asking here.. if the fix is more detailed I can see it.
